2009 Corvette

LOL...I'm sure a different form of "investment" would get you closer to that 'Vette!

EDIT: Now that I actually read the thing, 650hp!? Now, if GM could just come out with some even bigger trucks than they just did and get the little-old-lady Buicks up to 350hp, maybe OPEC will see the light and lower oil prices :idea

I know this wasn't the point of the car, news release, or thread, but $100K super-Vettes aren't what's going to save GM.

:wow: That thing is sweeeet, I think Z07 is the best name for it, *not* SS makes me think of the Cobalt :chuckle:

I wish Chevy/GM would start making a more appealing car in the 20-30k range.

Not to hi-jack the thread Danase, but did anyone see the link to this Porsche Sedan

A $100,000 Chevy! What is this world coming to :D?

The performance is there, no doubt, I just hope they do something with that horrendous interior for that pricetag :)...But then again, look at the XLR-V :(.

Bingo!

<whispering> Saturn Aura

And no, I haven't sat in one...it could still be just as crappy inside as its G6 brother.

I can't wait to see the finished Porsche. Although I wish Porsche would stick to Sports cars and stay out of the luxury and luxury SUV wars.

As for the Vette I think that will be a fair price tag if it can compete with the Ford GT. However, they should do something more to make that Vette stand out in my opinion. I mean i see a lot of GT's around Detroit and when you see one there is no mistaking what you just saw. The Vettes sort of all blend together to me.

and stat! When I saw the XLR interior, I was embarassed for GM. My mom has a CTS and I think the interior in that is terrible as well

GM has realized their problem with interiors at least...the new Saturns' interiors blow the Caddy's away

I am sure it won't be like the G6. That chassi is actually a nice one. It is an Opel / Saab design.

I notice this too. My parents always drive Buicks. They are nice cars in my opinion but the interior goes from a nice leather seat to a cheap plastic center console that rattles and feels like the plastic used on kids toys you find in the dollar stores. It is sort of what kept me out of a Silverado and into a F-150.

That thing is beautiful! I seen a light-blue/silver one on the road and wow...It definately does not look like your typical "Saturn" I think Chevy/Pontiac are losing what is really important to car buyers while Hyundai, Saturn, Mazda are putting out cars that meet the needs of their customers at a price that isn't out of this world.

Are they even on the showroom floor yet? I haven't seen them at my local dealership.

The current Z06 is already competing pretty closely to the GT. The '09 should obliterate the GT in current form.

I agree the interior could be stepped up on all GM vehicles, but $100k for that level performance, handling, etc. is incredible.

Said the same thing when Porsche made a SUV. :nixweiss

There is Chevy and then there is Corvette. Very few confuse the two after viewing the rear fascia. ;)

Maybe I'm alone in my thinking, but if I buy a 650 horsepower car, I dont really care all that much about the interior. MY OPINION: If I'm driving a 650 hp car and I'm whining about how the A/C and radio controls aren't in the right place, and I have to reach for them...then maybe I should go get a front wheel drive 4 cyl. I know GM interiors arent that great, but I'll tell you.....TO ME, there really isnt anything quite like a Corvette.

P.S. I go to the dragstrip regularly, and I have YET to hear someone say "yeah, you're faster, but you're interior is far less refined than mine." :D

Ummmm, if I pay that amount of money for a car I expect to get top notch engineering and design all the way around. From the engine and suspension all the way to the a/c knobs. If I just wanteda fast car I could build an old Mustang up for a fraction of the price.

I am kinda in the same frame of thought as you, Bob. It's probably just personal preference and what I look for in a vehicle, but I enjoy a well tailored, tight, and stylish cockpit, especially since it's what I will be enjoying most when driving :).

I do understand the whole performance argument...650hp from the factory with respective suspension, braking, and other performance appointments for under $100,000 is pretty impressive.

I will also have to agree with making the Stingray with a bit more "bling". As aforementioned, the Ford GT is an absolute show-stopper, whereas the Vette trims more or less blend in. They did a dynamite job with the C6 styling, I'm sure the Stingray can find a nice balance of bling and zing :D.

This (2006) is the last year for the Ford GT. It was always meant to be a short run, not to say they won't bring it back in the future. If I am not mistaken Ford was dabbling with a concept similar to the Shelby Daytona Coupe as well as a Shelby Cobra concept, both borrowing heavily from the Ford GT platform and I imagine one or both of those will likely be their next entry into the supercar market...

That first link did not work for me.

A friend of mine used to work at Saleen and one of his jobs where to install the racing stripes on the GT's.

It doesnt really look different from a regular 'vette to me? I would pick Z07 for the name because it doesnt look different enough from a regular corvette to warrant using a unique name like stingray.
