2008 Black Infiniti G37S - Only 3 months old and Swirled up already!

Car was bought in early May of this year so it was a little over 3 months old. From my past experience with this G37 in black, I knew to expect some swirling but wow, I must say that this has been the most swirled up car I have worked on and it was only 3 months old.

Apparently it was taken to another detailer when it was first bought and apparently did not do a good job. I figured it was clayed but it was full of bonded contaminants. So on with the process:

Clay

Chemical Guys Gray Clay

Optimum No Rinse QD strength

Foam cannoned the car again to remove leftover contaminants

Getting the foaming trigger for the APC really does help its cleaning power. Notice the brown tire gunk coming off.

Scratch on left was removed but scratch on the right was too deep to completely polish out without removing alot of clear coat. It needed to be touched up and wet sanded to be fully removed.

Damn that Infiniti looks awesome!

I love the 50/50's. Looks like you just peeled a layer of clear coat off perfectly.:woot:

Keep up the great work!

Great work, and nice job on the documentation. Those cars get in bad shape quite easily, but they look incredible when they're properly polished like that one is now.

IME, the black paint on the 350z and G35/37 is super easy to work on. I was able to correct paint that looked like that before, and make it match that after with 106ff and PFW only (As a funny test).

Great job on an awesome car. I also really enjoyed your documentation. Nice photography as well. Is that car from Canada or did they just change out the spoiler?

The Infiniti paint seems to highlight the filling properites of 106ff very well. The paint is very easy to make look good because of this effect.... Of course the paint looked much worse then you thought.

IME, that is some of the hardest paint to finish out correctly. The defects come out easy enough, but to finish down flawless is very difficult.

Great thread btw. I just ate a bowl of cereal and read the thread which equals a great time, IMO!

Haha, I'm glad you enjoyed the thread as much as I did, good info here.

FWIW, I have since done TWO follow-up washes, both on beautiful sunny days, and the owner does damn near daily NXT Speed Detailer wipe downs and the paint (with only the 1 coat of NXT 2.0 from 2 months ago) still looks absolutely amazing. Absolutely zero marring in direct sun from any angle. Maybe I got lucky? :woot2:

One thing that experience has taught me is that neither one of us are correct, we just have our personal experiences ;).. Maybe you are just that good :D

Superb work! I like your pictures too. Did you polish the bumper where the headlight is? Something looks a bit swirly. Maybe it is the pictures?

Great job nonetheless. That thing was trashed!
