2003 Z71 vs. a few new (to me) Z products.

I decided to clean up the Tahoe this weekend, since we’re about to get 7-10 days of rain. The pic’s were taken about 10 minutes before the downpour started. Oh joy J

I spent about 4 hours on the Tahoe inside and out, and for the most part I used Zaino from top to bottom.

Products & Process used:

Wash: Z7, Optimum APC on the wells
Tires/Wheels: Blackfire Wheel & Tire Gel (Very mild and effective)
Glass: Polished with Z14.
Exterior Trim, headlights, tail lights, & gauge cluster: Polished with Z12
Interior Plastic: Z16
Interior Leather: Z9/Z10
Tires: Optimum/CG’s VRT mix

Paint:
Blackfire Scratch Resistant Clear Finishing Polish: PC & Green LC Hi-gloss Pad x 1, Cyclo & finish pad X 1. This is basically P085RD repackaged IMO. It finished bright and VERY clean.

Z Sealer (NEW) –I ran into a few samples of a soon to be released Z sealer and I was impressed that an already great product (IMO) has been noticeably improved. The new mix goes on/off as easy as WG, and is (IMO) the best looking sealer that I’ve ever used –which before that was Z5/Z2Pro/Z8 combo. This is 1 coat of the sample stuff on the paint & wheels with a few Z8 touch ups.

Here are a few after shots (again… right before it started pouring. Sorry, but we’re getting hammered in the NE).

Nice. I take it the Z Sealer is basically Z2/Z5 without the need to add ZFX? If it comes off easier, it sounds good to me... Z2/Z5 have been a pain for me lately.

I'm debating whether or not to convert to PB's EX.

Hey I think I can see my house!!( LOL) Nice shine and I do have too say I was against Z products but you told me try and I like the look and I am hooked. Great job John. It looks great on the Redrock MDX also.

You may be hit with a lot fo rain but you have the new Z-line. I am jealous of the Z-line product not the rain.

Blackfire product re-labled from PO85RD? Interesting...? I thought I had the last 32 oz. bottle PO85RD stashed for use at a later date.

As someone stated, one coat with no ZFX. Your pictures show a great looking shine. Mite even rival your former favorite combo if my eye for comparison..... http://www.detailcity.org/forums/de...-taking-plunge-zaino-on-way-4.html#post173631 ..... is any good. Is Zaino going away from ZFX?

How did you come up with this sample bottle?

Finally....NICE WORK!!!

cw -Try the new BF polish, and tell me.

I'll say no more about the upcoming 'Z' sealer, other than it's going to put a big smile on your face when it hits the shelves! I felt like I hit the lottery when I had a chance to sample it.

I almost forgot to include a shot of classic GM plastic interior (LOL)

The Tahoe looks awesome!

I'm always impressed with your wheel wells and fender flares. How do you clean and dress them?

WOW NICE! Very reflective! I do mean VERY REFLECTIVE!:drool

Going to have to get a hold on this new sealant from Sal!! That will look really nice on the Porsche! I'm liking the Z8 more than the Z6.

Tell Sal he can ship me some here in CT!:D Interesting to see what that sealant would look on my black Porsche finish, side-by-side on an already 3coat Z5, one coat Z2Pro.

Wish there was an ETA on this product.

Your standard GM interior. Another reason I did not get a Z06 Vette, interior was like crap. Your cleaning and detail of this interior is perfect though!

Keep us posted on this new development and more pics as well!

ZanO -Thanks.

The wells are my 'pet peeve'. I really hate dirty wells, especially on a truck/suv, where they can be eye sores. This time I cleaned them with BF wheel & tire gel, using a few brushes, and dressed them with Optimum Tire Shine/CG's VRT 50/50. I usually use an APC or A2Z, and I dress them with NL.

I clean the flares with an APC/vinegar mix about once a month using a MF. I've been dressing them recently with Z16, which has held up extremely well. I've tried Z16 on just about everything except the tires (LOL). I'm a big fan of NL and BnB on tires, so I'm not looking for a replacement any time soon.

I just ran into another Z5 Pro sample today (and hear it's the final build), and it looks even BETTER if you can believe it. I have zero camera abilities, or I would take a snap in the garage and post it. It's absolutely amazing looking on black paint.

Here's one last shot of the Z sample that I used yesterday.

Deanski. I've heard that Z5 Pro will be available in 3-4 weeks. I certainly hope so, because it's an AMAZING product. I'd love to see a coat or two of it on your amazing Porsche!!

Does the Z5 pro need to be used with the ZFX? Just curious.

I don't know, but I'm sure it's not a bad idea.
I recently ZFX'd, so I didn't mix any with the new Z5. It applies super thin, and it's wipes off with ease. I did the entire Tahoe (paint, windows, wheels, running boards) in ~ 40 min this evening (minus the time I had to wash the dam* thing!!!) It dries/sets up much quicker than Z2Pro or Z5.

Here's a night shot of the mix that I tried this evening. It rained all day, and we have rain in the forecast for the next 5-7 days. Ahhhh!!!

That's pretty similar to my routine. How do you apply your dressings in the wells?

If I'm using BnB or NL, I spray it on and walk away. The Optimum/VRT mix was a little thicker, so I applied it with an old finishing pad by hand.

Thanks, I have to call Sal today.! It should look really nice on the Porsche black! I'll tell you, Z8 is like crack! Can't stop using it!
