1962 Jaguar XKE

Clean Dean

Keep it clean !!!
Imagine detailing (2) 1962 Jaguar XKE in less than 2 months !!! I detailed a white XKE in late December, and this one yesterday. A lot more work with this one, but she really came out nice.

The white XKE I detailed in December was near concours and nicer than this one, but the color combination of this XKE really turns heads...

On the paint, I clayed then buffed w/ rotary DACP to remove some heavy swirls. Followed with Klasse AIO (haven't used this in over a year). I used AIO because it just does something to red paint that is hard to explain !!! I topped with AM's EZ pPaste Wax.

The chrome and aluminum was cleaned with Mother Chrome and Aluminum polish and Noxon polish. I used various rags, MF towels and 0000 steel wool where needed.

The interior was cleaned with Meg's APC in various concentrations, and the leather was treated with Lexol conditioner after cleaning. ( I am experimenting w/ Megs APC after picking up 5 gallons last week ). So far I really like Megs APC especially it's clean smell.

Enjoy...

Beautiful car, looks factory fresh and great interior pic :xyxthumbs

Don't fancy cleaning those wheels though :p

There was a series of TV episodes on Discovery Channel over here in the UK where a guy restored an E-Type to its condition as seen on your photo's, from what was no more than a rusty old shell - all good stuff :up

Nice work

:xyxthumbs Thumbs up! Excellent work.

Did you wash it first or use a QD to clean off then clay?

Did you need a paint thickness gauge before you took the rotary / DACP to it? Is it original paint? If not, is it single stage?

Again, wonderful job. Must make the work that much more enjoyable and gratifying.

I'm waiting for Accumulator to chime in on this one!

Nice work

I believe the series is called

"A car is born" he also did a few "a Bike is born"

I LOVE THAT SHOW!!

The XKE came out BEUTIFUL!! Great job CleanDean:2thumbs:

Absolutely goegeous car. Great detail!

Spilchy- I could be wrong, but I think all of the older Jags had laquer single stage paint jobs.

Sweet! You do so many Antiques and Classic cars! I'm guessing EZ Detail Brush for those wires.

Really nice Dean. Did the owner actually drive this to your place (looking at the snow and wondering about salt)? And to think the white one was nicer than this!

I'm kinda partial to these cats. Cheers, Dave

Excuse me a minute, while I wipe the drool off my chin! :lol

Quick question for any Jag experts... did all of the series1 E-types have a metallic dash as standard? At least for the first two years?

Great work, you earn your fee just by detailing the wheels...

If you enter an E-Type Jag in concourse against a red/black Jag 99% chance it will take BOS (I think the tan interior looks better...)

Jon440- "A car is born" that e-type started out as a white E-type found abandoned in a farmhouse barn, the team who rebuilt it replaced 80% of it, but when it was complete it was beautiful
