Bigpikle said:Rob - how does it compare in look to Opti Seal? IIRC you were impressed by this recently?
Not tried 1000P, or any FK1 products, yet, but always tossing around new options?
thanks

NSXTASY said:I just added another coat of 1000 to my GF's car, the last coats were back in september and they held up all winter, (MI winter). Wiped down with 425 and tires and wells with 108, FK simply works.
By far, one of my favorite pastes, a few notches above 476s IMO.
14.5 oz for $16 is an outstanding deal as well.

Rob Tomlin said:Funny you ask, because I was trying to figure that out myself today (a day and a half after applying the 1000p).
The difficulty I have is that the Opti-Seal is on my Yellow Mazda Protege5 (and does not have a clear coat). My wifes SUV is a Pewter Metallic with a clear coat, so it is very difficult to compare them.
Thus far, I would say that the Opti-Seal seems to be a little wetter looking than the 1000p, but it is close, and I don't know if there would be much of a difference if they were on the same paint.
The 1000p looks wetter this evening (day and half later) than it did yesterday.
Bigpikle said:thanks - I wish I had more cars so i could try all this out on....the FK stuff seems like another range of good value, does what it promises products.
My MG in the avatar is a pale primrose yellow, and I topped some well cured wax last week with a layer of Opti Seal and was impressed with the extra gloss it added, for just a few minutes work. Beading was also impressive when we were caught in a storm later in the day.... car was self drying as soon as the rain eased and we hit 40 mph![]()
Rob Tomlin said:I added a second coat of 1000p to my wifes SUV this last weekend (one week after the first coat) and I would have to say that this second coat made a big difference in appearance. As big a difference as I have ever seen a second coat of any product make.
jb1 said:Hey Rob,
(And anyone else who may have already tried this) I recently ordered 1000P and Pink Wax and haven't had a chance to use either yet. On a velocity yellow vette and my wife's flint mica lexus would y'all use 1 layer of 1000P and one layer of PW or some other combination? Thanks!

Thanks a bunch for the advice. I really appreciate your help. Do you guys apply both by hand or ROB? I have some 4" (IIRC) LC Gray CCS pads. I'll definitely top the 100P/PW with 425. It may take me several weeks before I actually have time to do either car, but I'll post back when I do.
Rob Tomlin said:I always apply my LSP's by hand, but I'm sure you could use a buffer if you prefer.
Just follow the directions carefully on the 1000p. Don't let it dry much longer than 15 minutes unless you have high humidity or it will get more difficult to remove.
Definitely post your results when you have finished.
