'06 BMW M3 Competition Package detail

1 Clean WS6

Detailing Rottweiler
Hey all!!!

This is hands down without question THE BMW I would have parked in my garage!!! The owner had the exact color combo (Interlagos Blue Metallic / black) I love and optioned perfectly with the Competition package. It was one of those details I would have done for free. ;)

The vehicle had 6,600 on the odo and had never been detailed other than from the dealer. As such it had a good bit of marring and some rotory holograms. The paint proved to be on par with most of the newer BMW's I've worked on from the 3's to 7's...lot's of OP and butter soft. Below is a description of process and products used. Sorry for the lack of good light...it was overcast and cold today.

Enjoy,

Mike

The detail...

This shot is for tdekany and for everyone that questioned his undersized tire mounted on a wide rim. That is the rear wheel of this M3 with a tire that is 100% undersized (from the factory) for that rim. I'm not sure what the purpose is but some engineer at BMW got paid a lot of $$$ to figure out this set-up.

Actually, this is the reason why the tyre is noticably "smaller" then the rim.

It prevents the tyre form rolling under the wheel during heavy cornering.

When you have tyres, as wide, or wider then the rim, the way the tyre behaves in a corner is very different to the setup on your BMW CS (it's called that way here in Europe, a sort of "miday" solution between a regular M3 and a CSL)

Believe me that when you change tyres to wider ones, your roadholding and cornering speeds will be reduced.

Holy droooooooooooooool Batman! I love that car / color so much. If I could afford a new M3, that would be the car! You did an excellent job maximizing the looks of the Interlagos blue!
