04 Pontiac GTO detail pics

Detailing Rottweiler
Hello all!!

The local tuner shop (RP Motorsport) that I do a bunch of detail work for had me detail their new project vehicle today...an 04 Pontiac GTO. Being a big Poncho fan this was one of those "leave me alone I'm having fun details".:D The interior of the new GTO is AWESOME and the overall look of the car is growing on me though I still have trouble calling a rebadged Aussie car a "Goat". This particular ride already had a custom NX nitrous system, cold air intake kit and TSW 19" rims installed. The guys at the shop said it will soon be receiving a custom fabricated fiberglass hood along with a cylinder heads and cam package.

The detail process was as follows:

Wash with Gold Class wash

Polish with Meg's #83 DACP with my PC set at 5 using a Meg's 8006 pad. The Goat had some very light swirling that #82 would have removed but had a bunch of dealer detail jockey rotary holograms...so I just went over the whole car with the #83.

Seal with Meg's #20 with my PC set at 4 using a Meg's 8006 pad.

Enjoy!!

Looks good... If you would'nt have said what kind of car it is though, I swear I thought that 1st pic was a cavalier with dubs on it. :o The rest really show off the nice lines of the GTO...

Great job!! I'm with grt1today though. The new GTOs look like every other ride out there.

Just my 2 cents worts.

Stu

Detail looks great!! Nice subtle mods already...The rims really look sweet.

I agree with the others though...The look is very generic, but I know that thing has balls. :D

It looks much better than the pix I have seen in the auto mags.

Are those aftermarket or OE wheels?

Thank you all for the kind words!!:D

I agree...the new GTO is indeed bland looking but is one of those cars that you truly need to see in person. It still doesn't make me jump up and say "I need that" but it does grow on you.

tom p. those are aftermarket rims that were custom fabricated/machined to fit the GTO.

Anthony IT IS an international car (not Euro but Australian) called the Holden (GM's international only division) Monaro that was rebadged and given a slight facelift then called a GTO and brought here to America. :(

Sweet! I would have rather done that today than the Rolls Phantom I had this morning....that damn thing is freakin' huge! Besides, I've already cleaned it a few times, but haven't even seen a new GTO in Dallas yet.

Did you get to take it for a spin?

Well, GM has Vauxhall and Opel, too. I hear they're rebadging some of these cars as Saturns for the US market.

Nice job with the detail. The aftermarket alloys make it even more generic looking... perfect for a sleeper. No one expects a Corvette engine with such a plebian body. If only it were $5K cheaper so it would be somewhat competitive.

I did take it for a quick blast up and down the street...on motor of course as I am a NOS rookie. Seat of the pants it feels a bit slower than my WS6 was when it was stock...which makes sense because the GTO is HEAVY (about 3,800+lbs I believe). It's very smooth and drives much nicer than a stock F-body though. I attribute this factor to the independent rear suspension. The stock shifter is JUNK and would be the first thing I replaced if it were mine...very vague engagement with looooooooong throws. The overall design of the interior is light years ahead of the firebird/camaro. The seating position is more upright (think mustang) and the seats are just wonderful. It's a pretty cool car and since I have seen it in person and gotten intimate (detailed:D ) with one the exterior design is growing on me.

Nice detail work. I must say, it is very boring looking. I realize it is fast, RWD, sport sedan, but come on? It does look like an oversized Cadaverlier. The spoiler, rims? What next, lower it 2 inches and dual coffee cans? I'll take an '05 Mustang over that any day. Flame away.......

05 mustang will never hang against a cammed ta, the gto's are ok i raced one the other day but walked all over him

I think the styling of the GTO holds true to its roots in that the original edition, from '64, was intentionaly bland too.

That GTO was essentialy a run of the mill Tempest, with an oversized engine in it. It was a sleeper, thus it was supposed to look bland...and then blow your doors off!

just my two cents,

Scott
