That GTO was essentialy a run of the mill Tempest, with an oversized engine in it. It was a sleeper, thus it was supposed to look bland...and then blow your doors off!

Good point. I did take a close look at one this weekend. (no pesky salesman on Sunday). They are indeed a performance car in a bland package. If that is what the General intended, they got it right. From 20 feet it doesn't do a thing for me. Looking underneath at how it's designed made me change my mind.
 
The export version which you guys in the US recieved was detuned by 55kW from the top spec here in Australia ( 300kW ). That thing can get up and boogey ( my dad had one ). They havent been kitted out like our performance ones either...
