04 FERRARI ENZO!!!!! (60+ pics....56k go away!)

beautiful work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am happy for you that you get to work on those types of cars. I live in a very good neighbourhood but never see ANY exotics. Heck, never see any around here period :rofl

You seem to live in another world!

I have a question. How many hours did you actually charge him for?

Also, what areas didn't come out perfect?

You are the best Chris.

PS: The pictures seem to be over exposed a bit. Am I off?

Thanks, I would like to say the swirls didnt show up on my camera very well, I think I accidentally had the Saturation set on high when I took the before and after work.

The paint was actually a serious PITA. Most of my steps had to be repeated when polishing. Also be prepared that the paint wont be top notch. This one I found a run in the paint and the quarter had some sanding marks along with heavier orange peel. Also be ready to meet some buffer swirls that may not come out since they buffed the paint right after it was painted from the factory. I also found running the rpms higher yielded better results then lower rpms but we all know what happens with high rpms if not careful! :waxing: :shocked

Thanks for the heads up, sounds typical of Ferrari paint, sort of a pain to deal with. That flat red is tough; which makes the job you did even more impressive. :waxing:

Thomas - you are probably right, my new-to-me camera likes some shots and then hates others. I have it on ISO50 with auto apeture, focus, and auto shutter. :(

A Veyron would be my next top "dream detail" but I have yet to see on in person and I dont think there are any in my region.

The paint was harder then a typical newer Ferrari such as the F430. I believe they used a different process for the Enzo since the entire body is carbon fiber. I mean there appeared to be buffer swirls in the door jambs!!!! So I don't know what there exact paint process is but it sucked for this car. The $2-300,000 F430's seem to have better finish of the paint.

What I would give to see a metallic flake paint again. Just about every high end car has flat non metallic paint in which you can see EVERYTHING!!! :hairpull

Haha, not all of them; but ya... for Ferrari it's always flat red. :/ See my new thread haha.

That sir, is how an Enzo should look! I can't think of an adjective that would best describe how well that turned out! :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

lecchilo - When I first started using the Makita I was using a handle then I tried it without any handle and for *myself* personally I use it without any handle because I feel I have more control over the buffer. The right angle drill is a Ryobi. It works fine for what I need it. Little more hard to control then the makita and takes just a tad bit longer to work polish correctly since the max speed is 1100 rpms. You do have to have to be more careful with it.

maesal - the blue finesse pad is 6.5 LC/Wolfgang brand. I get them from autogeek or some other vendors online.

Salty - Almost all Ferrari transmission these days are the F1 transmission. The paddles to shift are right behind the steering wheel.

bluej511 - yes I will marry you :) lol jk Well I have the laptop but 2g's + for the paint gauge to read fiberglass and carbonfiber....eeek.

I will have to take pics of the right angle drill set-up and start a thread on it since there are a lot people asking about it.

Thanks for all the compliments. It truly was a blessing to work on such a car. :dance

Thanks !! :bigups
