#0000 Steel Wool

Here is a close-up shot that shows the grain in the stainless steel body of the DeLorean:

I remember John DeLorean on the Tonight show talking about all you needed was a steel wool pad to buff his new car.

The obvious exception is on polished stainless where all the grain has been polished out and it has a mirror or chrome like appearance. For that or even chrome I would try something non-abrasive to clean it before I tried even 0000 steel wool. 0000 SW is great stuff to have around and I'd never be without it, but it can leave marring on chrome, ss, or glass if you're not careful.

You guys are basically talking about brushed stainless steel (like a refrigerator) which, I agree, does have a grain. However, the chrome plated or stainless steel exhaust tips I have seen are polished, so I don't see how it makes any difference whether you polish "this way" or "that way."

You're right.

Sorry to go off on that tangent.
