Inital Thoughts: Sonus Tire & Bumper Dressing Gel

I decided to try some of this product out. Here is the link:

Sonus Tire & Bumper Dressing Gel

I am basically looking for a dressing for trim and plastics that has restoring and blackening/darkening properties but also have the longetivity of UTTG (4+ months)

So I figured that I would give this a shot for $13 bucks. Sonus makes some solid products from what I have tried thus far.The manufacturers web site also claims it is poly charged, so I am hoping that helps with durability.

I wasn't planning on doing a review so I just took 2 50/50 pics with my phone that came out kinda crappy but you still get the idea of how well it works in darkening and restoring trim.

It is a semi thick clear liquid that has a coconut scent. I applied with a yellow foam applicator and spread it very thinly. Only a tiny amount of product is required. I let sit for 5 min then buffed off excess as per directions. It says you can add from 1 to 3 coats depending on the look you are after. I only chose one and I was happy with the outcome.

The real make or break point of this product will be how it holds up in the rain and it's durability.

STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES ON DURABILITY..........

Nice. This is one of those products you don't hear about very much. Looking forward to your updates.

With all of the exposure that the trim products out there are getting recently that have been often overlooked UTTG may have some new competition.

you rat basterd...making me go buy more products...lol. Great review Jim! Looks like you might have found another great product from Sonus.....Trim and Motor Kote FTMFW! :yourrock

Well It just so happened to rain this morning and it poured actually. Only in the test area where I didn't buff it off did it run. That spot only had about an inch of running under where it was applied to the trim. The other areas that I properly buffed the product off after 5 or so min of application did not run at all. It is hydrophobic! Woohoo!!!:rockon

My keys to using this product are as follows:

1: APPLY VERY THINLY
2: BUFF OFF ANY EXCESS THOROUGHLY AFTER ALLOWING TO PENETRATE FOR 5-10 MIN
3: ENJOY THE LOOK OF BRAND NEW TRIM AT A FRACTION OF THE PRICE AS OTHER PRODUCTS

Another quality Sonus product IMO.

I will further update to see how long the darkened new look remains.

Cool subscribed.:) If you ever go to a concert with Todd better get in front of him in line at the bathroom because he can hold out longer than you.:rofl

I like everything Sonus produces.
Sfx4 sealant is very nice, also their all purpose cleaner.
please keep us updated, Doctor.

Thanks for the review, Jim!! I've been looking for an alternative to WETS, only because I want something that darkens a bit better. If the durability holds up for at least a couple months, this looks like a winner!!!!!
