Hell no, a Honda Civic putting a Lambo in it's place!

Agreed. I've driven the Nurburgring in Germany and if that civic can put a half a second on the lambo's time, then we have a discussion IMO.

I'm assuming Porsche in which lifting and planting the throttle at just the right times makes them very hard
to beat in turns.
As long as you don't lift for too long.:)

Oh boy where do I start I got a PM from gearhead asking me to check out this thread.
After watching the video is is clear this is some kind of amateur event.
If you look in the back ground while cars are staging you see people walking all over the track in front of car that are in the burnout box this would never happen at a sanctioned event.

So this was an amateur event and since the Lambo driver got hole shotted he was not good at drag racing.

Being hole shotted has nothing to do with the car it is the driver.
What the video proves is what most of us already know if you spend a ton of money and build a single purpose vehicle it will be good at that one thing but not very good at other things.
Anyone care to guess how the ricer would do against the Lambo on a road course.

This makes me think of the time I stopped at a local speed shop and this guy that had a rail was their getting his engine rebuilt.

He was always on my case making cracks about my Corvette and he thought that drag racing was the only thing that existed.

He kept it up and I told him that my vette would kick his ass anytime.
As you would expect this really brought him to his feet and he said do you want to bet a thousand on that and I said sure.

He said you be at Muncie Drag way Wednesday night and we will run them.
I replied no we are not going to Muncie Drag way we are going to Putnamville.

He said what is at Putnamville and I replied a 6.3 mile road race course.
He said oh hell I'm not going their and I replied well you see how great you car is depends on what you want to do with it.

I said I'm not going to run your rail on a drag strip and you are not going to run me on a road course.

When I built my vette I wanted a 3G car and it does that, It will exceed 1G under acceleration\Braking and cornering.

While I'm not interested in drag racing my car has ran a 8.95@159mph in the quarter and that was just as I drive it on the street and that would smoke that little Ricer Grinder.

I have had it to 264mph and if you cruise at a steady 65mph it will get 33+mpg

The excellent gas mileage is the result of the unique engine design with a DFI tunable fuel system and multi fire ignition along with a low drag coefficient.

Would I trade for the single purpose Ricer not only no but HELL NO.

As to which would I want in my garage the Lambo or the Ricer Grinder I think everyone knows where I stand on that.

Agreed. Will take a car I can drive to and from any track that will put in serious numbers. What good is a car you can only drive one place?

That's nice and all, but for those of us who can't afford the quarter million dollar car or the 50 G car, Honda's are some of the best cars around. They handle excellent, parts are easy to get, they are easy to fix, I'm getting 35 MPG and when I want to race, the thing turns into a little rocket. Really what more could you ask for out of a car?

Now, would I rather be driving a Lambo? Damn right I would, it would be tight as hell to have one. But for the price and quality, Hondas give the most bang for buck

That's all great. While I do not find the term ricer or ricer grinder personally offensive, some folks do consider it a derogatory term.

I think of it as an ignorant slang for someone who doesn't have a clue about imports. Hell I will even go out of my way and joke about it. Everytime I eat a a chinese place I always save the rice boxes and stick them by where my exhaust hangs out at :D

This can be said about several cars Honda don't have a lock on it.

In the fall of 09 I bought a new Ford Focus and since it is only 18 months old I can not speak about durability only to say I have had zero problems.
The Focus handel's and rides awesome.

I don't know about your rocket ship comment my Focus runs real nice but not what I would call a rocket ship but probably on a par with your Civic.

People always bring up the money issue but that fact is cubic dollars not cubic inches is the way you go fast.

Why do all the big drag race teams or NASCAR have sponsors????
The old saying comes to mind.

" SPEED COST MONEY HOW FAST CAN YOU AFFORD TO RUN "

This is the cold hard facts so when someone say's that a car cost too much money what they are saying is they can't afford to go fast because it is not possible to go fast without spending a lot of money.

People will say my car is fast for the $$$$$$$$ that is just another way of saying my car is not very fast

To each their own, Chevy or Ford, Mavericks or Spurs, circle or strip, whatever floats your boat. It would be rather boring if we all liked the same things. That said, do you really believe the person who referenced this term has no clue as to imports? :lmfao He's bound to have learned something looking at their headlights in his mirror. ;)

When it comes to talking fast cars and horsepower, spirited discussion is just part of the territory so long as it isn't personal. It's true, some guys even like plastic Chevy's.

Not true, anyone who has the money can go out and spend it all on the biggest car they could find with the biggest stock engine and try to race. Or someone with very little money can go out, buy a half way decent car, work on it, mod it just right, tune it, go out there, and kick some a$$.

It's not nessacerily the car but how you make it run;)

You won't find any stock engines in any successful race car.
I was building high performance engine before you were born and I can assure you that they are expensive.
I built my first Turbo-charged engine in 1976 but had years of experience building naturally aspirated engines before that.

The only part of your post that is correct is that it does make a difference as to who builds the engine but the important ingredient is $$$$$$$$ don't ever think you can become a record holder with a small budget.

IF IT IS CHEAP AND FAST IT WON'T LAST
IF IT IS CHEAP AND LASTS IT IS NOT FAST
IF IT IS FAST AND LASTS IT AIN'T CHEAP

IF IT IS CHEAP AND FAST IT WON'T LAST
IF IT IS CHEAP AND LASTS IT IS NOT FAST
IF IT IS FAST AND LASTS IT AIN'T CHEAP

I'm a believer. ;)

I think where confusion enters in to any conversation like this is that it is all relevant to ones experiences. What one guy views as a missile, the next guy views as a wheeled brick. It just depends on the circles where a guy runs and who he is around. Unless you've driven a fast car you can't truly appreciate one. If you drive 12 second cars all day, an 11 second car seems like it's over the top. Most guys can only compare fast to what they've actually driven.

Gotta be one of the few times a Lambo driver would get to say... "yeah, but I'll get you in the twisties"

lol

Call me a purist but for around 30k you can buy a early Porsche 930 turbo great looks, runs good, handles great. Just don't get hesitant in the turns and know when it spools up.
Do nothing to it but keep it looking and running good and it will gain in value.
