Final results for first detail

Little background.... I did detailing for Toyota-Lexus dealer back in Canada some 16 years ago for 6 years. A lot has changed since then obviously. This is my first time getting back into it.

I just got this 08 Grand Prix. It was a fleet car and has almost 50k on it. It's seen it's fair share of crappy hand and automated washes.
Now check it out...

Thanks! Also, I know the cracks and windows are dirty. I had taken these before doing clean up.

I also had the guy across the street asking me to do his Caddy.

The GP is looking great, man. :bigups I've seen how they (don't) take care of fleet vehicles; that car got lucky when she stumbled into your life.

While it was more products and more steps than I would have done, the results are outstanding.
It is often said, "Whatever works for you", and that process most certainly did.

Considering your results, I'm not sure you should pay any attention to my comments. :D
But....

I would have used one ot the other, but not both. Just my opinion, but I think either one would have left the finish LSP ready. Did you really see any difference in the appearance after the Pro Polish compared to after the SSR1? If you did, maybe you coukl/should have used the Pro Polish instead of the SSR1.:dunno:

Here again, I would use one or the other, but not both. I have tried topping various sealants and waxes and IMO, it wasn't worth the effort.
If the sealant didn't give me the look I wanted and the wax was necessary, then I would use just the wax and skip the sealant.
Before anyone talks about durability, any of the products I use are good for 4 to 6 weeks and that's about the longest my vehicles go between applications. I also use Duragloss Aquawax after most washes during the drying process and I think that definitely helps extend the life of the LSP I used.

Hey if you get those results, the extra effort may be well worth it. :bigups
I like shiny cars, but I also like easy. :)
 
I love topping sealants with wax, wax and more wax.

It adds a depth, warmth and richness to the vehicle.

That could be debateable, but it would have to be someone more knowledgeable than me. :)

Longevity? Maybe, but I don't think many sealsnts will outlast Collinite #845 Insulator Wax.

Bird droppings? I seem to remember reading that waxes were much more resistant to them than sealants.

Water shedding, resistance to water spotting? Seems to be awfully good with a lot of waxes I have used.

UV protection? Lots of claims, but I have never seen or read any difinitive proof.
Several years ago, I applied various waxes, sealants, and protectants to some glass microscope slides. I then had an optical store check them for UV resistance with one of their instruments. It wasn't real scientific and it wasn't real conclusive, but there was virtually no difference in the reading of the coated slides and the plain glass control slides.

At one time, I had three vehicles with different LSPs on them. Same prep, then a cleaner wax, a Carnauba wax, and a sealant. Not only could none of my friends tell any difference, I had to stop and think which product was on which vehicle. The only real difference I could see was that the cleaner wax seemed to darken the red of one vehicle.

Like I said earlier, "Whatever works for you".
