I am going to be polishing my truck this weekend and was wondering what you guys would use to strip old products off with? I have alot of products already so I really dont want to buy anything else any info would be greatly appreciated.:help:

I just polish away. :)
Whatever polish I am using removes the old wax/sealant.
The Poorboy's SSR's and Pro-Polish should do it.
Meguiar's #80, Meguiar's ColorX, Klasse AIO, Optimum Poli-Seal, Duragloss #501 are others I have used with what seems to be good results.

I use Dawn dish detergent. Some dont really approve of it, yet others swear by it. I generally only use it on a car once a year. Some say it dries out trim, but if I'm doing a detail that would warrant stripping LSP and building back up I will be treating the trim anyways, so whatever.

Hope this helps.

IMO...I would clay the car that will remove all the old product plus...clean the surface...dawn will strip the car of the old stuff but won't take off what clay will...and what Charles said will work as well...I just like to start with as clean a surface as possible and clay or a paint cleaner are those items

I use P21S Total Auto Wash (TAW) and just ordered THIS based on a respected detailer's suggestion.. it's supposed to be a bit stronger than TAW so that's perfect as I can dilute it more... claying will/should remove anything left over...

Obviously everyone has their opinion, but it's always best to remove anything on the surface before polishing because not only do you get a clean surface to work with and let the polish and pad be as effective as possible, but when using a rotary machine it's much easier to control the machine when working on a non-waxed surface...

If you do enough detailing you'll start noticing a difference between working on a waxed and clean surface, whether it's with a RO or rotary.

Good advice on the prep wash not seen that one before, but IMO...if you clay the car right there is not much need for anything else...unless you do a paint cleaner or PB PP
