Well I used all kinds of glass cleaners and none work (Sprays and such). But the other day I tired buffing the windows with 3M Rubbing Compound and it made them SPOTLESS. Anyone else ever tired this?

Well it certainly will clean the window, but leave a haze on it from the compound....IMO.

What have you been using to clean windows?

cleaner and towels?

Maybe that Rain-X is part of the reason spray cleaners don't work. I can't stand that mess - personal opinion of course.

IG and Rain-x. If you use alot of shop paper towels it will get the haze off.

The IG is a great window cleaner...but the shop paper towels could be your source of the problem..IMO...also your process of cleaning and buffing..You best window cleaning is in using a MF towel that is designed for glass...coupled with the IG.

I'm not saying that the compound is not cleaning the window, but its an extreme measure for just window cleaning..unless you where trying to remove water spots or the likes of that

Yes just to remove some oxidation and extremely hard to get off and old water spots.

if you are removing water spots and the likes of that a polish or compound is a great choice on glass...However your OP was talking about glass cleaners and how they didn't work for you...its my guess that you are either using the wrong towels, or your process is not correct...Stoners IG is one of the go to for a lot of detailers...its one that I use...and I have very clean streak free windows.

I cleaned my windows today.
Process. Used Spray and Wipe on the windows and removed with a very plush microfiber.Next I added Rainx and flushed the windows with water. I used another microfiber to get rid of the haze and this left my windows clean. I didn't /don't see a haze.

It doesn't count if your still in the garage:D:D

I clean the windows with Zep profesional window cleaner (the concentrate from Lowes $10) and then use Wolfgang Sealant, I hate rain X. Once every couple of months I polish with DG 501

I like to soak the glass and MF with window cleaner, wipe all over, turn the cloth over, wipe some more...
Spay the glass again, and go over it with the old news paper...

Shop towels BAD!

Also, your rubbing compound will fill the tiny pits in the glass leaving white dots all over.

Didnt for me.

plus two on this one...I have paste water spot remover for glass...stuff rocks!!

A-Maz seems to work for me. I used it with a 4-in pad on a UDM on glass to get rid of water spots. It has fairly thick consistency (paste).
