Stimulus Incentive Check

JaredPointer

COME AT ME BRO
Just thought I'd ask you guys how you intend on spending your economic stimulus check. Since it's free money and all, you shouldn't feel guily for splurging. :rofl (And yes, I know that it's not free money.)

My wife has already spent it in her mind four times. I am not sure what it will go towards but I am sure that I will not have a say at all in what is done with it.:wall:lol2::)

Don't forget you'll owe taxes on your stimulus next year.
What a joke.

Not quite. Maybe you should look at this. From the IRS website:

Q. Is my Stimulus Payment taxable?
A. No. You will not owe tax on your payment when you file your 2008 federal income tax return. But you should keep a copy of the IRS letter you receive later this year listing the amount of your payment.

Q. If my Stimulus Payment is not going to affect my 2008 tax refund or increase the tax I owe next year, why is it I need to retain the letter that lists how much I received?
A. In the event you do not qualify for the full amount on your 2007 return but you do on your 2008 return, you will need to have the letter as a record of the amount you previously received. [New 4/11/08]

Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?
A. No, the Stimulus Payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.

There are certain factors which could reduce deductions on a state to state basis, but I think they are trying to "work those out."

Since it is intended to be a stimulus to the US economy I feel it should be spent on things made in America. Now darn near everything is made in China or some other country. So I'm thinking American beer and hookers. :lmfao

im with cwcad!!!! :D
except i will get a very small percentage to do with what i want.. if i see $100 of it, that will be something.
i just try not to bring it up until the check comes that way there are no plans being made for where to spend it.... :lol2:

Well I'm spending mine on something made in America. I'm putting it in savings until my property taxes are due next November. Pretty boring huh?

I think that is a wise decision. Use the Govt money to pay the govt!

The sad part of it is that the $1200 I will receive will only cover about 1/3 of the property tax here in the thriving metropolis of Salem, Utah (Population 7000 and some odd). :yay

That is a beautiful part of the State if I recall correctly from my drive by many years ago. Along the mountains?

The property taxes here are killer as well and we don't have any scenic mountains!

My wife and I are going to Vegas in November to attend the SEMA show.

We plan to save it until then so we have some extra spending cash!

It's been since the 05 SEMA show that we've been to Vegas after going ever year prior to that...I'm dying to get back to my second home!!!

Thanks Uncle Sam for the extra money that you're going to tax me on anyway!

I like this concept the government is pushing and wish it worked in running my business...

If You're In Debt And You Know It
(to the tune of "Happy & You Know It")

"If you're in debt and ya know it, write a check...
"If you're in debt and ya know it, write a check...
"If you're in debt and ya know it; let the economy really show it...
"If you're in debt and ya know it, just write a check!!!"

I wish that $1200 was about a third of my property tax :passout:
