Interesting I guess

What are they there for?

I believe at least one of them is being wrapped in vinyl if that makes any sense. I’ll check next week to find out for sure.

Was the center of attention at C & C this morning.

I found other cars a bit more interesting…

Gonna polish the ugly off them. May take a few days.

Does anybody have any insight into that styling? I mean, it`s not exactly in the family with other Tesla styling. It looks like they tried to make it look like a fake vehicle cobbled up for a post-apocalyptic movie. I mean, right? It`s like what Elon thinks we`ll be driving here after we get hit by an asteroid while he`s on Mars.

NOPE, Elon simple did not wish to spend any more money on the"styling" design and used the test mule prototype as the model basis for production. How else can he afford to pay to go to Mars! (Conspiracy theory: there is a Go-Fund-Me page started to help pay for sending EM to Mars ASAP!)
I REALLY think this styling is by same General Motors body styling designers and engineers coaxed out of retirement and hired by Tesla who were involved with the Pontiac Aztec design. (More conspiracy theory)

Maybe someday someone will write a book about it entitled "All Tesla Trucks Were Designed by Origami (for Idiots)" (Based on the book "All Corvettes are Red" by James Schefter. An excellent "must-read" book for any car enthusiast about the development history of the C4 and C5 Corvette behind the scenes at General Motors, by the way!)

We were in California last week, I think we saw four of these "trucks". They are very odd to see in person. We saw one that had just the front vertical panel with a black wrap and some more black wrap on the rear end. Don`t know if the wrap job was complete, but it looked even odder.

The single large wiper was a bit unconventional

This was a bit unique as well; a wingless GT2RS. A bit better kind of unique to me.

That front view is just gobsmacking. It reminds me of that Autoline show where they had the guy who takes cars apart and reverse engineers them, to sell the info to competitors. He took a Model 3 apart, and said that the "skateboard", the chassis with the motors and controls, was state of the art, with a main controller board that was military grade, he said like something out of an F-35. And then he said the body was crap, that he couldn`t understand how bad it was, like someone who had no idea how to do basic car design, for things like door latches, etc., when there were people like him who knew how to design that stuff that Tesla could have easily tapped to do it.

Anyway, it just seems like this Cyber Truck was the winner of a Jr. High car styling contest, rather than the product of actual vehicle designers. Maybe Elon`s kid drew it up.

These are butt ugly and made not far from my house. Every single one of them has been recalled for various reasons.

Gotta say I like it. Not the shape but I love some shine. Might be a good money maker for some pros.

Wrapped…a bit of a learning curve! Edges of many panels are knife-edge sharp. Cuts through film…and flesh. Ouch.

I waited to see one in person before I passed judgment. A few months ago, I saw a vehicle transporter full of them on the Interstate, and shortly afterwards I actually saw one being driven on the road. My verdict: It looks like a dumpster on wheels. Funny enough, both of my daughters have seen them recently totally separate from each other, and totally separate and before I did. Their unanimous reaction? It looks like a dumpster on wheels.

I`m not apposed to electric vehicles, and while I don`t like the interior design choices of Tesla`s, I have a certain level of respect for the product they sell. That said, the Cybertruck gets big thumbs down. If I was in the market for an electric truck it would be either a Rivian RT1 or an F150 Lightning.
