The F150 made it a whopping 85 miles on a full charge towing a 6000# trailer according to Fast Lane trucks.
I`m not surprised. Depending on the weather conditions (i.e. extreme cold) it could be even worse.
That`s clearly not the best application for an electric vehicle at this time.
Exactly, and I think most people would freely admit it too. I`d bet if you could get some Ford people off the record they would even admit the person pulling a 6K lbs trailer long distances (or any distance really) is not the target customer. I think the are going after people who use their truck as a car, those who pull small/light recreational trailers (light boats, jet ski`s, maybe a motorcycle/ATV) short distances, or maybe even a tradesman of some sort who simply use the trucks to haul their tools around the local area. The use cases for the RT1 is likely the same. I know our electric company has a couple Rivian RT1`s running around these days. The technology and infrastructure aren`t mature enough for anything heavier.
