What does everyone use on interiors? I;m looking for a great priced, quality initerior vacuum that can handle a lot of use. Any product info would be great.

Re: Interior Vacumes???????????

Any wet / dry vacuum from Sears, Lowe's or HD would work. The higher the HP the better :). I have a Shop Vac from Lowe's ... I think 5.25HP. It's small and powerful. Great on interiors.

Re: Interior Vacumes???????????

I have an old Ridgid 6 1/2 HP shop wet/dry vacuum cleaner, been a dang good one. I got it back in 98 or 99, no problems. I believe ridgid and sears are the same vacs.

Re: Interior Vacumes???????????

Lots of choices. Almost as bad as waxes. :)

I have one of these.
Craftsman 17765 12-gal 5.0 peak hp Wet/Dry Vac at Sears.com
This one works great in the garage. I really like the short squatty tank. It doesn't tip over when you pull it around by the hose.

And one of these.
4.5 Gallon Pro Pack - RIDGID Professional Tools
This one is my favorite for any time I have to take a vacuum with me.

And one of these, but without the wall kit and storage accessories.

The first two are tools, the last one is a toy. It is small and handy to move around, but it doesn't have enough power to really clean anything.

Re: Interior Vacumes???????????

Thank You so much. That is really what I was looking for.

Now for a new question.

Would anyone use these for their Detailing business (mobile obviously) if you used the customers electricity?

While I'm not in the business, the Ridgid WD4550 Pro Pack would sem to be ideal for that use. One negative to this unit is the price. It was about $20 more money than the WD4050 which is basically the same unit without being packaged in its own carrying case. Just skip lunch for 3 days and you have that covered. :)
Another thing that might be considered a negative is the oddball 1-7/8" hose size. It does limit you to buying accessories made by Ridgid.

This is a good one too.
That's the WD4050 I was talking about in a previous post. I was planning on getting one of those until I saw the toolbox version.

Pricewise, it's probably a better choice than the WD4550, but I have no regrets about spending the extra money for the one I bought.

The 6.5hp Ridgid is what I use. I had one where the electrical go, and because there was dirt and dog hair in the fan, they did not honour the warranty. So clean it regularly and make sure you use a filter.

Note: I had not warranty issues with my shopVac when it busted.

I switched to the 10' industrial hose, and it is so much easier to vacuum because it is more flexible and smaller. The draw is less--more like a 6hp, so it is tougher to shampoo. But I'll use the longer flexible hose for vacuuming all the time.

I may get the ShopVac commercial (6-6.5hp) for my second machine since the Ridgid warranty guy sucks here.

Re: Interior Vacumes???????????

I'm going to suggest any Craftsman or RIDGID product. Why?...because I work for them!!

As most have stated, the higher the Horsepower, the better, although size matters as well.

Being that I work for the company, I've had an opportunity to use many of these great products over the years and I've got to admit...my personal favorite and one I use today is the WD4050. It's only a 4-gallon unit, but it's got 5.0 Peak HP. Now...we make bigger vacs with more Peak HP, but I find the bigger ones harder to store in my 1-car garage, so the 4 gallon is perfect for me. It has a 1-7/8" hose, but with our new claw nozzle, a crevice tool and a dusting brush...I've got just what I need to get the job done right the first time. We also now offer a 4X Pro Hose which is very nice. I don't have one yet, but everyone that has used it loves it!

Okay...enough of my rambling. Go out and get you a wet/dry vac. And be sure to pick you up some extra filters to keep your vac operating at peak performance!!!

YNOT, Are you saying you work for the company that makes both Craftsman and Ridgid or do you work for both Sears and Home Depot? If you work for the parent company what is its name? Is it Ridgid and they're making Craftsman?

Emerson Electric might be his employer. I think they make both Ridgid and Craftsman.
In fact, I think Ridgid is a division of Emerson Electric.

Yes...I work for Emerson. We make vacs for both retailers. And yes...RIDGID is a division of Emerson...one of many.

Charles I have the same one that you do and it rocks big time...I like the blower feature and I can set it up to help dry the rugs if needed...also its fairly quite while running...that I like alot....I got the extension hose for it which is nice not having to move it around the car to get from one side to the next

i just bought a metro vac. best thing since sliced bread. it's 4hp motor not only vacuums great with ,the use of the turbo head, but switch hose ends and it becomes a powerful blower to blow off water after washing. you can find it at metro vac.com or just look up automotive vacuums. hope this helps.:rockon

The Metro is a great little vacuum, but it is not a wet vac. It is only for dry pickup.

Oh...by the way...the CRAFTSMAN/RIDGID vacs have blowing ports which allow you to go from vac to blowing simply by attaching the hose into the exhaust port. Or the 'detach' units offer powerful 265 mph blowing capability!!

I use a squatty Craftsman 12 gallon one that I've named R2 (short for R2-D2, yes, I grew up on Star Wars). It works well enough. The hose could use some strengthing since it tends to kink right where it joins the vac. Other than that, it's served very well the past few years.

++1. My trusty Metro 4peak has served me well on my detail jobs for over 5 years now. I've gone thru 2 sets of micro attatchments and a couple hoses, but the vac keeps on going strong.
