Re: Rasky's Auto Detailing - High-End Auto Detailing and Premier Coating Installer, Minnesota Metro Area

Awesome work, attention to Detail, absolutely perfect, Chad !
And amazing that you can still fit these incredible jobs in between work, home, and building out your perfect Detailing Studio...

So happy for you and yours and hope that you get good sleep on some My Pillows, which I believe are made in your town somewhere..:)
Thanks again, you absolutely Killed It !!!

Thanks Dan!

To be honest, I`m totally spent after the last few weeks and really need a break! The last few jobs have required far too many hours with many very late nights. I was working until 4:00am Monday morning on that ATS-V and then I had to be up for work at 8:00. I assume most people can`t just switch off their train of thought after being on a car all day. I need time to unwind before I go to bed or I just toss and turn for an hour or so thinking about the job. Then I worked on the garage until 10 Monday night and then I had to push to get everything ready for drywall last night as they came this morning at 8:00. This involved taking down my current 14 LED fixtures and rewiring it up for all 26 fixtures so that the wires hang down exactly where they need to come out through the drywall. I strung duct tape across the trusses and cut a hole in the tape for the wires to fish through. Unfortunately I ran out of wire around mid-night and still had 3 lights to go, which meant I had to get up at 6:00 to run to the store and get more. I finally got to bed at 3:00 am last night and had 2 hours this morning to finish the 3 lights and get my vapor barrier up, which was something I`ve never done before. Lets just say hanging 2 sheets of 26` x 20` 6mil poly isn`t a one man job...its sucked, especially when running on no sleep. I offered to pay the drywal guys to do it but they politely declied and instead got their things ready and figured out how they were going to tackle the hip roof and all the wires I had hanging down for them, lol. I got it all done at 11:00 and thankfully didn`t hold them up too much!

I seriously need a beer and a bed! :)

Geez man. That`s insane, Rasky.

In the end, you`re going to have one killer garage/shop set-up, making many Autopians drool in envy. The fruits of your labor will be enjoyed. Then, you can have a FEW cold ones. :)

Keep up the hustle and the great work!

Re: Rasky's Auto Detailing - High-End Auto Detailing and Premier Coating Installer, Minnesota Metro Area

Just READING your last post tired me out. Never mind actually doing all of it. You`re an animal...

Quick question. I see you use Griot’s Fast Surface Prep Mitt and Glide as lube on lots of your details? Who makes Glide?? Is it from Griots??

Re: Rasky's Auto Detailing - High-End Auto Detailing and Premier Coating Installer, Minnesota Metro Area

Thank you! I totally missed his question when I read his post...total space cadet yesterday! :)

I`ve never had any marring issues using the any of the prep towels as long as I use Glide as lube. While I know a lot of people use ONR as it`s super cost effective, IMO it doesn`t pair well with the prep towels.

2007 Porsche 911 turbo in a beautiful sample to order blue.

Repeat client of mine recently traded in his 2012 Turbo S with a PDK for this low mileage Turbo, equipped with a proper manual trans (how they should all come). This vehicle was in for my 2-step exterior correction, long term ceramic coating application, wheels off cleaning and coating, and a light interior cleaning.

Process:

Wash – Meguiar’s Hyper Wash and natural lambs wool mitt
Wheels – Sonax FE+ Wheel Cleaner & various brushes.
Tires - Cleaned with Megs D143 and Tuf-Shine brush. Dressed with Megs Hyper Dressing 3:1
Paint Prep – Griot’s Fast Surface Prep Mitt and Glide as lube
Paint Correction – Griot`s Fast Correct Cream on the G15 with BOSS MF pads followed by Optimum Hyper Polish on the G15 with yellow BOSS pads. Tight areas were done with the Flex PE14, Megs G110v2 and the Rupes Nano.
Glass – Megs D120 and Griot’s PFM glass towels
Coating Prep – ONR wipe-down followed by Opti-Prep
Coating – Optimum Gloss-Coat

Before pics

There was a lot of wax in the cracks and other various areas from previous detailing

Moderate swirls, which were hard to capture on this color

Wheels and calipers cleaned, lightly polished and coated.

Pusheen approves!

That color reminds me of Honda`s Championship Blue, like my practice/test panel I`ve been working on. I totally know what you mean about being hard to capture swirls and such!

How did you get into those tight areas?!?! And what did you use to remove that dried wax?

And that last pic I included...WOW. I didn`t think one could get this color to pop like you did. GREAT work, Rasky!

Thanks for sharing!

I`d like to know what you use on the dried wax as well...

Thanks! Yeah, it was funny because the owner stopped by to have me evaluate the car last summer and I was working on an S2000 in a very similar blue. Tight areas were done with the Flex PE14 with 1" pads as well as the Rupes Nano. I tend to prefer the Flex PE14 when in rotary mode as it has more control (instant start and a proper variable speed trigger) and the Rupes tends to sling polish in rotary mode.

Wax was removed using a tooth brush, Opt Power Clean, and patience. Note that this doesn`t always work effectively and IMO is really comes down to what wax/or polish is on the trim.

I`m sure lighting has a lot to do with the way my pics look and the whole front of the car was wrapped in a new 3M PPF....it did look good though. ;)

I`d like to know what you use on the dried wax as well...

See above. :)

That IS funny! Thanks for that tidbit about the smaller areas. I have the PE14, and doubt I`ll ever get a Nano.

Patience...check (tons of that)
Toothbrush...check
Power Clean...check (received an order last week)

Sure, lighting has a part in it, and angles and such. But don`t discount the work you put forth. It looks DAMN good.

looks like you got some more lights up. awesome job

Re: Rasky's Auto Detailing - High-End Auto Detailing and Premier Coating Installer, Minnesota Metro Area

oh I thought it was yours

Nope. I buddy has a thing for Pusheen and he ran into that massive thing at the mall a few weeks ago. He posted a pic on FB pf him holding it, which was hilarious when you saw the expression on his face! It was like $400 and someone told him to start a gofundme page for it. Anyone who donated got a date with Pusheen, which was why she was at my place. ;)

Thanks Don! Yep, all 26 fixtures are up now. It`s actually brighter than it looks in the pics but everything else looked over exposed so I had to dial back the exposure a few steps on the camera.

Drywall is also up on the ceiling and I got my speakers in too. ;)
