What did you do detailing wise today?

*paying for flawless
But she gave me another pumpkin pie, lol

I`m still working on drawing the line. I might be doing some future R&D for Jazz blue as it`s just about the only color I`d take other than metallic black in these Mopars. ;)

So I guess this breaks the rules too?

Yeah I`m like that too. "you want the car waxed or clayed, compounded and waxed?" they pay for just a wax and I end up either doing compound or claying anyway... I want to see em as good as they get but the customer wants a cheaper job!

Well, frankly I feel I have the right to do what I wish to each and every car. I always give them a few options even after dropped off.

Yes, I shouldn`t be doing it but it happens.

I only am 2 stepping everything above the crease on the challengers...thats where most of the light hits anyways and this specific car has dual stripes down middle of entire car so its less to cover.

Now what I am going to start doing soon is charging more for intricate vinyl...an hourly rate..this took 37 mins from start to wipe off/removal..and i could have done a much better taping job, i know

Looks nice, What is your opinion of the strip wash?

I was not impressed with it. Seems gimicky like most strip washes. I have another test that I will be doing now that I polished off the hood and used all Adams protection products on the hood.

Washed the cars today. Felt good since it`s been over two weeks since they were both addressed.

Power washed the S and then did a 2BW with Gyeon Bathe+. The hood was a mess with some water spots that came out after with Gyeon WaterSpot. I think it got rid of the Kamikaze Over Coat though since the hood wasn`t beading up like it did before. No problem. A round of Wet Coat on the car. Applied Over Coat on the hood. Dressed the tires with a bit of Sonax gel. Interior completed with Kenotek Vinyl and Leather Cleaner.

Foamed up the Highlander with CarPro HydroFoam. Topped/dried the car with Adams H2O Guard and Gloss. Tires dressed with BF AIO. Windows with DG Rain Repel.

I use Turtle Wax Max Power to strip clean.
I think it`s a winner for the price. If you don`t think it has the lubricity, just add a touch of what u like.

Shaved down a Flex 4 3/8 BP to 4" allowing it to accept 5" LC Hybrid pads (backing is 4"). Given the failures I`ve seen of LC Interchangeable BP system I didn`t want to risk it happening to me.

I did this with the stock BP so that I could use the LC 5.5" pads. The edges did not come out as clean as yours but it`s been working great, the 4 3/8" BP was starting to damage my 5.5" pads so right now it`s decommissioned until I find use for it.

What was your process to shave your BP?

Good to hear yours is working great! The reason the edges on mine look clean is because I have access to a lathe. I used a coarse file to shave down the hard plastic, then a fine file to smooth the foam out, and finally a utility knife to trim off the excess BP velcro. It was a bit of PIA but came out great in the end.

Brandt- just keep repeating "they`re not paying flawless" and it gets easier.

Mary- thank you, I have a bottle of that Sonax BSD coming in this week and I`m very excited to try it out. I`m going to test it on my car`s old hood I removed to replace , I knew it would come in handy one day and this is it, gonna use it to test some of these "quick" spray waxes/selants for average durability.
Here are some pics after a rain, BSD drivers, BF pass.

BSD is kinda grabby, but does a GREAT job

Gave my Corolla a RW and tested out my new LC Blue Sponge, not sure how i feel about it yet. Topped with Mckee`s 37 Fast Wax as drying aid. Unfortunately I got some solvent pop from the repaint job, but it`s something I can live with it since i didn`t pay a lot for the work.

Also running a test on some spray "waxes" on an old test panel , will provide more details after the fist week or 2 go by.

I am curious about Meg`s spray wax. With a gallon I wonder if it would be good for company fleet vehicles, like $60 each to wash and put that on.
