What did you do detailing wise today?

Mary B, that`s probably it. i have one as a back up for my gg 6"da. mine says chicago electric platinum. for the price it`s a decent machine, if you can get past any ego thing about using one (i`ve seen them on sale at hf for as low as $49.00). it` has more power than a porter cable and works fine. i modded mine with a longer cable, new gear grease, and a 5" backing plate, etc. and really wouldn`t hesitate to use it as a primary if needed.

Mr Slick, mine came with a 6" bp and ran fine with it, no stalling. i modded it and runs even better with the 5" bp. take a look at this thread for modding the hf. mine ran better with these upgrades. http://www.autopia.org/forums/polis...highlight=mods+for+harbor+freight+da+polisher

it will run better with a 5" bp, just like the porter cable runs better with a 5" bp.

Thanks great info. HF updating their freight ? It just felt good ? surprised me.

( Just watched the vids, Thank you so much, I will be able to use this info for sure in my travels. B) )

Spots like clear dots of product that had to be wiped
Down when drying.
I will let her sit over night to cure.

Might have a few problems with that approach.................

A. It was said with hydro that it won`t stick over a wax...... Wet coat being similar, it might not work.
b. These type spray coatings are meant to do one section and then blasted off, not spray down the whole car then blasted. Not sure if that`s the way you did it or not.
c. It was cured pretty much as you dried it.

You may want to ck and see if it worked on top of a wax, or if it nullified both.

Sorry

Sorry

I used wet coat after glissante wash a week or less ago
My car had three layers of eg fuzion spray wax on it which is on top of cure (essence as base)

I did one panel at a time, etc with the wet coat
I didn`t notice anything out of the ordinary
flood dried
Light mist with spray and gloss

No dots but not same application method. I did 1 panel at a time.

Does it stick over the wax? I duno. I topped that with this a few days later afrer it sat in my garage...

Now its been almost a week and i got bugs to wipe off.

I could spray it down later but not sure if that would help us determine anything.

I got a little more wet coat left. And i never polished my rear bumper since last year, so I was going to black hole/nattys black the bumper.

I guess i could wet coat the bumper after that. But then I`ll prolly dry it with cure, lol.

my car is getting some interior work today anyways so who knows what will happen

This needs more shine...

I just purchased McKee`s paint coating and did about 1/2 the car yesterday. Very pleased with what I see so far. Slickest/smoothest coating I`ve seen. Unfortunately I had to drive the car this morning and got caught in a brief downpour. I will say the beading is amazing. Almost as good as the Cquartz product I`ve used. Looking forward to a happy long-term relationship with this one :bigups

I learned that if you let Optimum Power Clean dry on paint it will stain the paint. I did not notice some over spray when cleaning the recessed trim in the cowling area.

I was polishing any way and Griot`s Perfecting Creme took care of it. I was using the "new" version but it was new a while back (over a year old). I never had issues with the prior version and does seem to clean a little better.

I really like the Griot`s polish - very straight forward but if you use too much it is a little harder to wipe off. I did not have time to see how much I could work it.

yep. Got a clean truck and learned more.
(At work now.)
Think I`m getting this. .
The soap I used had wax.
Already had a layer of wax.
Should use on a car that has been coated or prepped for a coating. Or both.
Apply & rinse one panel at a time .
Am I closer ?????

Yeah. Jsmooth told me that applying hydro to a car that had wax, made both not work, so I do it to a car that has no wax. But now since you did it, if you do it again, it should be fine?

One panel at a time, blast off, flood surrounding areas, move to next panel, repeat.

Just looked it over in sun light, feels like it took the wax off, where the dust attracted I can see streaks.
I had a layer of BF sealant that`s degraded too??

The two products may have countered acted each other. The DP POWER WASH does indeed lay down some real protection (wax). I love this wash. How did you find it? Really that`s all you needed was the PW. I have found it so good that it would negate using a drying aid. A good LSP and use of PW would really extend the looks and protection of a LSP. I was really interested in the WET COAT too, but this was not really a good test bed for it.

Finally looking at a week without predicted rain.

But the wheels with McKees exterior wash. Hyde`s Serum Rust Stopper on the rotors.
HydrO2 boost.

2BW with Gyeon Bathe+.
Gyeon Water Spot applied to a few locations.

Kamikaze Over Coat to replenish the areas addressed with Water Spot.

Tires dressed with some Pinnacle Black Onyx.

Interior wiped with Kenotek.

Got the good spot at work.

I still can`t determine if any of my wetcoat affected the fuzion spray underneath

so I decided to add a second layer of souveran spray on top of the first one after the wet coat- haha

problem evaded via wasting more wax

works for me :)
