Brand Specific Vs. Mix and Match

Are there any benefits to using all one brand or product line? Versus using this brands compounds or that brands waxes or sealants? As someone new to the detailing world I would think using all the same brand would give a better finish. I may be way off based here so I figured I`d throw it out to the forum and see what everyone prefers.
 
What has a better finish varies on who you ask. I believe that the product line you use is purely personal preference. But if you use the same brand you are using products that are chemically made to work together.
 
Lots of companies make many good products but I can`t think of any company where I feel ALL their products are the best at each specific task. Sticking to only one brand limits yourself IMO.

Agreed. I might use different product lines for *every* step of a detail. The potential compatibility issue seldom crops up *for me*, but (of course) that`ll always be one of those YMMV things.

like how nattys black goes over black hole without wiping off black hole and causes zero issues perhaps?

or how spray and gloss cold lowers the solvents on nattys pastes for easy layering perhaps?

I have been wrong today (according to the boss)
 
For production detailing the optimum line would save some time plus create more flow going from polish to coating, from onr -clay- waxing. Other then that use what you like.

No. It`s all BS IMHO.

Does my car look better if I`m using BF MS wax and BF Wheel cleaner vrs BF MS wax and Sonax Wheel Cleaner?

No.

There are a few rare instances where you may be attempting to layer LSPs / glazes where it may be beneficial.

Yes, but products like S & G and BH work universally well with almost any wax. They are just good products.
 
hey I don`t know I am just a Social Scientist after all

I think unless one is a chemist or has MSDS sheets to compare or something like that, I guess its all just speculation

could be marketing hype

Overused and annoying marketing term IMO.

Other than coatings I`ve not had any compatibility issues cross using other companies products. Actually, I haven`t had any issues doing it with coatings either, it may just require some additional prep work.
 
I don`t see the need to stick to one company either. And the term synergy is loosely tossed around. Just like rasky I`ve never had issues crossing products lines at all. The only time i see it to be beneficial is when working with a system like the BOSS system with their pad and polishes.
 
I bet there aren`t too many companies that`re gonna be positively disposed towards their customers using stuff from others ;)
