Zymol Waxes more durable?

I appologize if I have offended you. I'm just trying to point out that I have used Zymol (correctly) and I have not been impressed with its durability, especially considering the price. I believe it is a total waste of money for the average car guy. That is only my opinion based on using several different flavors of it.



Since you have been detailing professionally for a long time, what would you say the most durable wax is?

I think we need to remeber each to his own. I have my favorite waxes, you have your favorites and Zymol has his.

Maybe you had some bad expences with Zymol, and hey thats your perogative. Im sorry you where not impressed but hey it happens. Heck i have tried Zaino and hated it (and the war begings......now) i know alot of people love zaino but i dont. My point is that its each to there own.



As for the grape vine comment I was not singaling you out personly and ims orry if it was taken that way. Like I said MOST of the people.. but not all. I the person asking to dig deaper into the opion and you gave the information with your crudentals.. and no im not saying that they are bad or small or anythining.. im just syaing.



as for durabilty, I have had great sucess with Zymol waxes and durabilty. They seem to hold up well in calgarys winters(which are hell) so I will continue to use them as I have been impressed with them.



as for the best wax, again personaly choice. However my favorite wax is the Victoria wax concours... it is an amazing wax..great deapth anc clarity, looks really nice.. for more info send me a pm and i can et you know of a review... whats your fav. wax

The war is really ON if you hate Zaino. Just kidding. You say Zymol holds up to winters, which it may, but for me it could not hold up to summer in NC. That may be the point in question, winter VS summer.



Wax wise, I haven't tried too many lately as I've been stuck in Zaino land for about 8 years. I did use some carnaubas on the bikes, but they lived in a garage. I've tried Zymols, 3m paste, Mother's (the non cleaner variety), Blitz, #26, and Collinite plus a few others I have probably forgotten about. Favorite so far is 845 IW, however I have a tin of #16 coming and plan on trying Natty's Blue sometime soon.

so from the sounds of it your more of a sealent man anyway. I myseelf like the glow of the numba. Im not such a fan of sealents. perhaps thats why i love zymol.. it gives a nice glow. Now to try vintage and destiny.

I'm really warming back up to carnaubas, well blended anyway. If they don't have some sort of polymer in them, they don't seem to last for me. And by last I mean bead like crazy for a long time I tried carbon, destiny and concours.

I agree with that statement for sealants, however isn't wax hydrophobic, and it there is still wax on the car, wouldn't it bead?

Wax IS hydrophobic, but over time you will have contaminants that migrate into the wax coating, especially if it's softened by solar heating. These contaminants present adhesive forces that pull at the water droplets, flattening them. At this point is where most people think their wax is "dead", while it may be every bit as intact as it was after application. The only way to prevent the contamination from settling into the wax coating would be to constantly wipe the dust and dirt off of the car before it has a chance to settle in. This just isn't practical for most people, including myself.

I think someone mentioned it, that in reality there isn't really such a thing as a best wax. The best wax or lsp for an individual is the one that:

1. Shows up and does the job.

2. Does the job best for you and...

3. Is within your feasible reach.



Now be that as it may, I think its fair to say that not all waxes can do all three things at all times. I also know one or two (of my particular favorite waxes) that have a little bit of trouble with item three....



Be that as it may, I think its fair to try out as many waxes as you can, and put them to the test to see which one does what you expect it to do the "best."



............and then try a Zymol!! Had to add that one!

lol dont worry. I will still be trying Zymol, i promise.. I just have exams next week so it will happen eveantually.
