Zymol Vintage and Royale

Having used #7 for over 2 decades I also get what you are saying.

Q1: Prior to using Zymol Vintage do you final prep with Zymol's HD_Cleanse? If not then what do you use?

Q2: You have used quite a few high end waxes. Which of them are you favorite 4 or 5 based on looks? (ex...gloss, richness, darkening or lightening affect, color enhancement, amount of beads...)

I do prep with zymol HD cleanse but I prefer #7 if I am being honest. Another good one to use is somthing like chemical guys glossworkz, this really looks great under Glasur.

The top 5 is a real tough one jmsc

1. Vintage - It just has everything

2. Glasur - nice wet look and really darkens the colour, beading is superb

3. Smart Wax Concours - looks like a high end wax its just a bit strong smelling

4. FK1000p for sheer lasting ability and its more glossy than collinite 476s

5. Pinnacle Souveran - Looks great, doesnt last too long, still not as nice as glasur.

I left out p21s as I don't have any room, left out nattys for the same reason - this looks great but not good enough to make a top five. Plenty others but they just don't make the cut, this includes Royale.

John.

I totally agree with the "looks similar to #7" statement. Couldn't agree more. Vintage adds a bit of, for lack of a better description, clarity to what you'd get with 7.

I've gotten the best Vintage results by prepping with 7 prior to the Vintage, although HDCleanse gives very good results as well. HDCleanse can be an even bigger PITA to use than 7, though, especially the first few times you use it. I also get better durability from Vintage using it with HDCleanse than I do with 7.

If I ever tried Vintage, I was gonna use it over Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion, based on a conversation I had with Irene at TOL long (and I mean *very* long) ago. At least the PCL is very user friendly. Plus, it leaves a, uhm...."truer" look to my eyes than M07 does with all its TSO.

ACCUM:

Did you ever think of using Vintage over P21S Paintwork Cleanser? Also gloss-enhancing, user friendly like its Pinnacle brethren.

But my mind says to use the hard-to-apply-remove HD_CLEANSE first.

BTW, if you guys want to try some expensive wax, I'm sampling both my mystery and crystal rock. just saying.

Nah, I didn't really care for the P21s, either their GEPC or their wax. This was on the Jag, where I'm admittedly very picky about "the look", but eh...I just didn't like it the way I do the PCL. Might as well just chalk that up to personal preference, at present I can't remember/tell ya why I have this preference :nixweiss But it was a case of try it, "nope!" redo with something else.

I've often done very well mixing products from various manufacturers with regard to the penultimate and Last Step Products. In this case, Irene knew a *LOT* more about the various products under discussion than I ever will, so I was intrigued by her suggestion to use the PCL, which I like, instead of the HDC, which I'd heard mixed things about.

I spit hot fire every time someone mentions that crap. Might be worst detailing product of the millenium. It doesn't clean that well. It certainly doesn't fill or polish. And its a pain to work with.

[DISCLAIMER: What do I know, I've never used this stuff....]

I think people get hooked on the "purity" of using all-Zymol and think that using something besides HDC will somehow mess up the results from applying Vintage/etc.

And in a way it might, if (perhaps a big "if") the HDC just happens to leave things exactly as desired.

Sorta like how I prefer to use SRP before the Souveran on my Jag. Yeah, I *like* Pinnacle's PCL, and yeah that's the "proper stuff to use before Souveran" (the all-Pinnacle purity approach). But on that particular paint I simply prefer how things look with the SRP base.

But/so....I can't help but wonder how HDC users might like the results from some other penultimate product, one that's almost certainly more user-friendly

I was going to order some PCL to use prior to Vintage, then got distracted by something shiny. Still on my list of stuff to try prior to Vintage.

Pretty much any pre-wax glaze/cleaner I've used so far has worked well with Vintage, but does effect the final look quite a bit.

I've tried quite a few products prior to V, and so far the best look I've gotten was with #7. RMG followed by Vintage looks very good on Ferrari red. Think I have a pic of a Ferrari that Greg Nichols and I did with RMG/Vintage. I'll dig around and post it if I happen to find it.

Found it. Don't know how well the pic will show up as I'm posting it with TapaTalk from my iPhone.

Vintage by itself looks great, too.
