zymol cleaner wax

Abrasive? Hmmm....most cleaner/waxes are going to have either a chemical or abrasive type cleaner..that's how they work. I don't have a specific issue with that, it comes with the territory ;) My problem with the product is that it looks great for about a week and quickly fades away.

What sort of projects are you working on where you'd like to use this?

i've been using this stuff... i read some where it's abrasive?
It is.

This used to be one of my favorite waxes, the smell is wonderful and it made my cars look nice, and it's durability was enough to satisfy me back then. But damn I got tired of the dusting and how hard it is to remove compared to other waxes out there.

But in anycase, yes it's got abrasives in it, I hope you aren't "layering" it for added depth:grinno:

I used it years ago. All in all it is not a bad product. I believe it does have mild abrasives, such as kaolin clay. It can be difficult to remove if you apply too much.

really... i swear it says "non-abrasive" i used this to get off all the junk my wash doesn't remove. i wonder how much clear coating i've lost already. i used an orbital by the way...

Not enough clear to notice. The cleaners might be part chemical rather than abrasive, but even it it has abrasives (I've never used it), they would be pretty mild since it is an OTC wax.

I would agree, there's no issue using it with a PC.
I remember back in the day when I used to use this stuff, I'd remove it by hand and then put on a lambs wool bonnet on my Craftsman random orbital and mist some Meg's Quik Detailer on the panel and buff it out. Oh man I had my Civic looking good!!!

i just bought zymol cleaner wax the other day..will apply it after my rotations end..2 weeks left and im done with it all!..anyways..although this is considered to be "zurtle wax"..it does seem pretty good..too bad its 3 X $ Megs Cleaner wax...will post up pics in a bit

It's noticeably more durable than Megs CW though, and I believe the Zymol bottle is larger as well. And have I mentioned yet how good this stuff smells?

It smells great. I bought 2 bottles when Costco used to sell it. I used to think this stuff was the bomb. It looks good, smells great, is durable, and has pretty good cleaning capabilities. I've since tried other products, and left this way behind. Zymol Cleaner Wax is very dusty, stains trim, and is somewhat hard to remove. I do miss the smell though.

Well said, exactly the same for me. The thing that drove me away the most was the dusting and the staining. But man, if they could reformulate that stuff to not stain and to dust significantly less, I'd be all over it.

question regarding dusting with zymol cleaner wax..do you think its worse than say..megs gc?...ive used gc and its crazy..i have to whip out the cali duster the same night..

Well, back then when I used Zymol I was using a Craftsman random orbital buffer and was likely using too much product. I would imagine using a little less product as well as misting something like JW CJ over the Zymol haze and then removing would yield far less dusting. I've never used Megs GC so I can't compare the two, but back when I used this stuff it dusted like crazy. I nearly spent as much time getting rid of the dust as I did waxing the car.

I actually really like this stuff. I used to use it when it was called Zymol "Auto Polish", and came in that elaborate clear plastic packaging. It was back in '97 that I first purchased my bottle. These days I still like it. Not bad for a non pro like me.

I did notice that when I use a Meguiars foam applicator, some of it is extremely difficult to remove. If I use a terry, or MF covered applicator, it bahaves just fine.

Exactly the description I was looking for.

However, it has to be one of the best smelling products out there.

Do you think it's manufactured to Zymol's specifications, by Turtle Wax? I called them yesterday, but got the voicemail.

And yes, it smells really good. It does a great job on lacquer finish drums, and coated cymbals.

Oh I seriously doubt it. Its just a descriptive name for a "lower end" product. BUT it obviously still works nicely.

Post pics of your drums!
