zymol auto polish EDITED

I just got Zymol Auto polish. The contents of the container say that this is made of carnauba wax. Does this mean that this can also serve as a paint protectant as well? Will it be better if I follow up a coat of Zymol polish with a coat of carnauba wax after?

Help please. =)

Is this the product?

It sounds like a polish to me. This is meant for the SUV's and I have read that the SUV product line is one of Zymol's lower end lines.

From Zymol site -

Liquid Polish is an easy to apply cleaner and polish containing nature’s most effective and expensive ingredients. This dual action, non- solvent based, all natural formula cleans and protects in one simple step. Liquid Polish will remove minor scratches and oxidation. A combination of Kaolin Clays from Africa and gentle Almond Meal from California provide a safe and effective cleaning action for your SUV without abrasion. Pure Beeswax provides a water-repellent finish.

So reading this product description it is a cleaner wax.

Don't expect this cleaner/wax to last long though, based upon durability discussions about Zymol, I'll give it one month tops before re-application.

What carnauba wax do you plan to top this Zymol polish/wax?

Jason

Yep Zymol basher and proud, I'm sorry but all I'll got is a 10.

Who in their right minds would spend $1,000 and change for a can of wax, I don't care if it has life time refill buts that one can of wax can buy all my detailing supplies and still have $350 or so for a rotary and bigger wet/dry vac.

Well $20 is low end compared to products running 300, 400, 500, 1000 dollars per container.

Zymol used properly will product great results. Just won't last long on a daily driver outside 24/7.

I am 99.99999998% confident that if you give all the products in Zymol's line to an average Joe walking the car care aisle in an AutoZone, Pep Boys, or any other chain they will not outperfom myself armed with Armour All or Turtle Wax products. Unless that person was an autopian........

Check out the boxes at Sam's that hold the Zymol car wash. They actually say Turtle Wax. They don't even try to hide it anymore.

Sorry, but Zymol isn't what it once was.

Similar to what's happened to Mongoose bicycles, Blaupunkt stereos, etc.

Once considered premier, now "consumer grade".

Aaah, mongoose bicycles (with a chrome moly frame, comp rims, and oakley handles)....that brings back some memories.....

The zymol you see at PepBoys & Costco is made my TW. Guess who makes the high-end Zymol products (hint...it ain't Zymol!).

I have used the liquid Zymol (pictured) and the Zymol creme for years. It's not the only polish I use, but it is sweet. To rejuvinate an already killer shine, it's good to lay down a coat. The "cleaners" are not at all harsh, just enough to smooth out that "all summer acumilation of cotaminants" I'm not sayimg it's all you need, or to even begin your process with it. Like I said, I lay down a coat after I have already acheived my shine. (usually at the end of summer) I work for Sam's Club, and our store has never had it.That would be cool though. We have had TW products all along. TW does not own Zymol, they just contracted with them for distribution reasons. Now that their distribution has suposedly grown through TW, I can't buy it off the shelf in my town.(go figure) AS far as the SUV thing, I don't get it because the polish doesn't know my Cobra from an SUV from a VW. Paint is pretty much paint....right?So far as low end, meaning inexspensive...Duragloss is very inexspensive, but lays down an exceptional gloss. I guess it's just what works for the indivigual.:wavey

Hey ...i just e-mailed ceo of zymol..chuck bennett ...we will finally put this to rest ..... I will publish e-mail when i get it.....

My bad, I meant Costco. Here in San Antonio, they are a block away from each other.

I will see if I can sneak a photo of the box with the Zymol products. If so, I will post it ASAP.

I just bought the Zymol at Costco. No doubt it's now distributed/made by TW. The cardboard packaging for the cases even says Turtle Wax. That pretty much erased any doubt in my mind.

Still good stuff, I hear.

I just got the OK from the warehouse mgr at Costco to come take a pic. I will post soon!

If the Zymol CEO disputes photographic evidence, I'd like to hear his explanation. I have a feeling he will concur that TW produces many of the their products.

to poast a pictures you may use the (img) link (right click on pictures and copy and insert the link) (/img)

( ) = [ ]

I use the html code {img src=" (link)"} (link) would be the link you get from the right click of the picture.

{ } = < >

I know you can make a picture you can click but I don't know the code.

A quick search will yield results.

Hope this helps,

Jason

Oh well. Still not working. I sent it to NYD via e-mail. Maybe he can get it to work. I've done this many times on a similar board. I don't know why it's not working unless I need to have a host.

I in no way consider myself as knowlegable (sp?) or as professional as Jason, NYD, BW, or any other long time posters on this thread. I am still learning many new techniques and tricks or the trade even today. I think it will be quite a while before i have fully and completely mastered the art of the perfect detail. (Yes.. i know.. the perfect detail does not exist.. but whatever is closest to it). There was once upon a time where all i did was wash the car with some cheap crappy soap, and slap a layer of wax on it every weekend. Very time comsuming, and very tireing. Sure, the gloss and shine lasted that one week.. maybe 2 weeks, but thats it. My father swore by Zymol products. The original Zymol products.. the ones when way before Turtle Wax started "making" them as well.. known as their cheaper line, were released. At that time, still a while before becoming an Autopian, I found their products to work to my satisfaction. Sure, it took a while to apply and remove, but the products did what they were meant to. I HAD some Zymol Concourse (damn.. gotta update that profile at the bottom) on my suv, and it was a pain to remove. Applying was fun.. got to put the wax in my hands and apply.. However, i found that it did NOT last very long. I later applied over 5 coats Klasse SG, and some 2 coats Meguiars #26 ontop, and it looked incredible. The shine, and gloss lasted for a long, long time.. longer than i expected. So, there are SOME (dont flame me for this) Zymol products that are quite good.. if you dont mind the PIA to remove/apply them.. But overall, i would not rely on an entire line of Zymol products for my car. Because overall, i do not like them.. atleast not the NEW line, in conjunction with TW

hey PFG,

very nice thought out post. I like what you say and understand it.

but dont under estimate yourself with knowledge, you have given me tips in the past on detailing, we all dont know it all and that is what this "AUTOPIA" is about. I have seen your work and it looks great.

Later,

NYD

I DO like the car wash, though. It lathers up nicely and the lather stays longer than most I've used. It also smells nice - kinda tropical. Personally, I won't use their waxes or cleaner/wax. Their good stuff is WAY too expensive and their cheap stuff is not easy to work with.

I just bought a P21S kit for $39 that includes car shampoo, wheel cleaner, polish, and their famous carnauba wax.

Basically, $10 for each container in the kit and MUCH superior to any Zymol product within $75 of that price.

I think of P21S (and other manufacturers of similar quality) as being what everyone THINKS Zymol is.

Kind of like Bose. Everyone thinks they're great, but they're not nearly as good as their marketing leads you to believe.

Zymol went to TW because of their market share (read: marketing). Now, Zymol produces a product that is marketed the same as TW.

--------------------

Ms. LaPointe,

Thank you for your email and concern about our affiliation with Turtle Wax.

In 1994 Turtle Wax attempted to buy Zymol. We refused.

In 1995 we approached Turtle Wax to allow us to use their distribution and representative network to launch our SUV and Truck product line in the automotive chain stores.

Our choice to use Turtle's sales network was based upon their 70% market share and 100% distribution.

Simply, they own the automotive chain store market.

Their field of 200+ representatives, the best in the industry, has also been a great benefit to our SUV/Truck product sales.

Our quality has not changed and is superior to any and all manufacturers in our industry. In fact, our SUV/Truck line was voted No.1 by Consumer's Reports (May 2000) compared to all brands available. (including Turtle, which did not make them very happy)

Ms. LaPonte, I make it a company policy to stay out of chat rooms and post locations because I believe they are private forums for the benefit of their members and I never want my company associated with the unethical modality of 'spamming'.

I'm comfortable with your posting my reply to your forum if you wish.

I hope this answers your members questions.

Warmest Regards,

C. E. Bennett (Chuck)

CEO

p.s. a little inside info; we are trying to buy Turtle.

Was Blitz included? P21S? others? I'm curious about which waxes were tested. I do not have the copy. Can anyone enlighten me?

I'm not sure what he means when he said SUV/Truck line. However, I do have the May Consumer reports AUTO wax test in my computer and they rated Zymol Cleaner wax number one. That's terrific and all, but the only waxes that were used were OTC products. No Blitz, P21S or any of the other higher-end waxes that are popular here.

To give you an idea of what the kinds of waxes they tested, below is how consumer reports ranked the products.

1. Zymol Cleaner Wax

2. Prestone Bullet Wax

3. Nu Finish (Paste)

4. Armor All Car Wax

5. 3M One Step Cleaner Wax

6. Turtle Wax Emerald Series Advanced Liquid Wax

7. Turtle Wax Super Hard Shell Car Wax

8. Nu Finish (Liquid)

9. Eagle One Wet Polish and Wax

10. Blue Coral Cleaner Wax w/ Swirl Remover (yeah right!)

11. Turtle Wax Express Shine Spray Car Wax

12. Meguiar's Gold Class

13. Mothers Californai Gold

14. Rain-X Ultra Wax

15. Armor All Spray On Car Polish

16. Meguiar's Cleaner Wax (Liquid)

17. Turtle Wax Finish 2001

And the list goes on and on. Meguiar's Cleaner Wax in paste form came in last. Quite a dubious distinction considering the competition.

They tested for 5 factors: gloss, durability, cleaning properties, ease of use, & how much the product scratched or hazed the surface.

If you want the ratings chart in PDF, let me know. But quite frankly, there isn't a single product on that list I would use.
