Zip Wax Car Wash

It should be ok. AIO will probably remove any "wax" left behind by ZipWax. I would ditch the stuff after AIO/SG though. Try something like NXT or GoldClass instead.

Agree - AIO will clean up "anything" left behind by the wash

Disagree - No need to ditch this wash, it's affordable and a decent wash product. It sure doesn't hurt to try other washes though, I've got a cart full. :) IMO what you have is at least equal to the Meg's Gold Class wash. Between the two Meg's washes, I do prefer the NXT wash.

Wow.. I haven't heard or thought much of zipwax for years. It was the only soap i used when washing before my pre-autopian days. I still think it's a great product; it's just that I do 95% of my washes with qew in the garage now.

I don't know if it would be a good idea to go straight to SG if you were to put on additional coats in the future. Maybe using a non-carnauba qd would be sufficient preparation.

My father used to buy this stuff and we used it when we washed his cars. I can't, for the life of me, wash with it without causing some kind of marring :nixweiss

I got a bottle of someting called "Turtle Wax Gold Car Wash" at Costco. It has actually worked pretty well, and I've not had any problems with marring. I have to use a high concerntration of it to get it to work well, but I would definitely keep using it if I didn't have so many other soaps in my garage.

Say it ain't soooooo :D

Does that include when used with your no-marring wash procedure?

It is just one of many of the car wash products I have on my cart, I can't say I've ever had a wash product that when used appropriately have caused any marring. It is, after all, the user, not the product that causes most marring. :o I have a few that I don't really care for for one reason or another, but I've actually come across very few truly bad car washes. I haven't tried them all, though ;)

Mr. Clean- You got me there- I didn't try it with the foamgun/mitt-balloon method that I'm now using. But using more conventional techniques, I did try get noticeably more marring than I got with higher-lubricity washes. Still, I should probably watch it about criticizing a product that I haven't tested using the optimal process [note to self... :o]

Heh heh, I seem to be one very judgmental [individual] when it comes to washes; I *really* don't like some of them, including at least one that's quite popular here.

OK, I'll buy that :D and to be perfectly honest, I don't really mind being judgmental either. As a philosopher once said (in a naughty twist on the line from the Good Book ;) )- "judge fairly, and be prepared to be judged".

So, would anyone know what the the most lubricating car soap is available? I'm assuming this would be the safest to use.

That's pretty much how I feel about it, though I like sudsing too (helps get the grit moved off the panels). My choice is Griot's Car Wash (about $30/gallon, plus shipping).

You are not judgemental - you are discriminating. And, that is part of what makes all of your posts such a great read! :)

Accumulator is that! And you are right, and as a result he is a great resource. :up

I donâ€â„¢t have an aversion to it either. Good words to live by :up :up

I also appreciate a good sudsing wash!

I used to use the Turtle Wax Zip Wax car wash all the time and I hate it now. Compared to Meg's GC & NXT wash, and P21S, no comparison. Even Mother's CG is better, and I don't even like the Mother's that much.

IMO, the Zip Wax wash didn't sud much (and didn't last), didn't smell particularly good, didn't lubricate well, and it didn't seem to do much for that just-washed appearance of the car either.

And I think I can concur that I got more marring/swirls using that wash too... although that's unfair because that was mainly in my pre-autpian days where I used lousy technique and lousy towels and lousy sponges as well. LOL
