ZAIO vs. KAIO

Im getting my first large shipment of products that I've learned about from this discussion group tomorrow. In this shipment is the KAIO, which from what I've read about, is a pretty solid one step. What I DIDNT get in this shipment was any Zaino products. I thought I did but then remembered I was holding out until I got my new cabinet. Anyhow, in your opinion, which one step works the best?

Second question. The Zaino site says that "it is MANDATORY" to use ZAIO or ZFX if you plan to use Z2 pro, Z3, or Z5 pro. Whats the skinny on that? Is it marketing or some chemical combination that works the best? Will the paint I work on spontaneously combust if I use KAIO and Z3? :LOLOL

When detailing a vehichle it is not always possible to use a one step product it depends on the condition of each vehichle but your AIO is a great choice.

Do you have a pc would be my 2nd question ?

Zaino products are good products as you probably have already read but with zaino you are commited to useing just zaino for the most part. Its up to you but I prefer to be able to try any sealants I wish to try along with any carnauba waxes also.I dont think you will be dissapointed with zaino at all though.

I've used klasse AIO under Zaino (zfxed) with out any issues. Unless I'm mistaken, Zaino is a sealant. Thus it'll have the same bonding properties as other sealants. Though I recommend you use ZFX with Z5 (primarily because I'm not yet aware of what happens if you don't), I wouldn't sweat not using ZAIO vs. other AIOs.

Zaino sealants work very well over KAIO but you DO need an initiator for ultimate bonding and durability. As Danforz stated it worked great with ZFX'd enabled Z2/3/5 over KAIO.

Enjoy all your new toys!!!!! :wavey

I thought all that happened if you used Z5 without the ZFX was it took longer to cure???

If you use Z2/3/5 over "established" Z sealants, yes this will require a longer curing period without ZFX.

Zaino used properly requires ZFX, CS or ZAIO as initiators. Well until.......:D

Z1 serviced this purpose back in the day.

ZAIO acts like a coat of primer and allows use of other Z sealants without ZFX. The downside is longer cure time and only being able to do 1 coat per day.

So what Im getting out of this is that any AIO will be ok but if I want to use any of the Z sealants without ZFX, I need to use ZAIO? This is fun!

Yea, I used to think the same thing until I tried Zaino.

Can you apply Z2, 3, 5 over other products? Sure you can.

Just like anything else, prep is the key to attaining the best results.

If you want to top carnuba with Z2, 3, 5 (as an example), then don't expect to get 6+ months of durability out of it.

Zaino products were developed to work together as a system -no big surprise here. You don't see product 'X' developing products to work *best* with another line-up, right?

Since I've used Zaino, I've prepped with several other products that I like (Klasse AIO, Werkstatt, Menzerna), but will admit, when my final polish/prep step = Z-PC or ZAIO, my results are a notch better in terms of durability, and yes, there is a difference in looks (but that is subjective).

If you use another brand to prep (and there's nothing wrong with that), be sure to either ISO wipe, Z6 wipe, or wash before topping with a Zaino sealer.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Well, I used KAIO and one coat of Z5 (without ZFX) on my beater. So far it's been 2 months since the application and I see no sign of it deteriorating. Water still beads nicely, and it has a great shine. BTW, this car is outside 24/7 and is only washed about once every 2 weeks.

I just got sick of struggling with SG removal, and since I have an older bottle of the non-pro version of Z5 to use up (I placed my first Zaino order about a week before they started shipping the improved pro version of Z5...just my usual luck), so I figured I'd use it up on my wheels and the beater. So far so good, and I much prefer it to SG.

I've got Opti-Seal coming so Im going with that as my sealant. And with the other $500+ worth of stuff coming(Menz/Opt/PB, etc) and the shelves of local product I have, Im pretty sure I can get excellent results without having to commit myself to the entire Zaino line. Does sound nice, but theres so much stuff out there. Will probably have to try it someday but not for another couple hundred details. Still love hearing the feedback, though. Thanks for all the input

What color is your Z5?

Since ZAIO has some level of protection and Z2/5 definitely offer a lot of protection, I don't see that not adding ZFX and only applying a single coat of Z2/5 over ZAIO in one day is a downside at all. Saves you money and time and you still get exceptional durability. After using ZAIO and following with Z5 Pro, once Z5 was applied, I was able to immediately go right back over the car and buff off the excess with no streaking or smearing.

White, in a white bottle with a blue Z on the label.

:(.

The reason I asked was because my initial bottle of Z5PRO came in a Z5 labelled bottle. The solution was lavender though. I was hoping maybe you got the PRO version like I did in a Z5 bottle since you ordered so close to the official release date of the PRO version.
