This is my personal daliy driver which had some heavy scratches across the sides from a recent offroad excursion. I have since realized I prefer detailing to offroading, so I decided it was time to get it all cleaned up. This was also my first time using an orbital buffer and I believe it went extremely well. Sorry for the lack of close up pictures and the halogen pics. I was running out of daylight and had Christmas Eve church services shortly after finishing up. Oh, and it was 65 degrees while I was doing this. :)



Here was my process:



Wash with Zaino Z-7

Claybar with Z-18 Claybar

3M Rubbing Compound with orbital buffer on heavily scratched areas

ScratchX with orbital buffer on lightly scratched surfaces

2 coats of Z-2

2 coats of Z-5

Z-6

Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal

Armor All Extreme Tire Shine Gel

Armor All Low Shine on the exterior door handles

Thanks for the positive feedback. I really appreciate it. It was my first time using a machine, my first time using rubbing compound, and the first time I have really used Zaino correctly. Also, everything I applied and used, I learned from Autopia. I ran across some older pictures of mine from when I first joined and I cannot believe how much I have learned from everyone here. :waxing:

I'm a Zaino newbie and intending to try it out in the new year, can i ask on dark cars is it recommended to do Z2 before Z5 or does it not matter if your laying them both.



I had read Z2 gloss bling and Z wet depth hence the Z2 for light colours and Z5 for dark but i like the idea of tryong both.

I'm no expert and I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I got the impression that Z-5 was a little more heavy duty and meant to fill in minute scratches, while the Z-2 seems to be more of a polish to enhance the depth. That has always been my rationale as I applied it.
 
If you are going to use either Z-2 or Z-5, most Zaino users would recommend Z-5 for a darker can and Z-2 for the lighter one. The condition of your finish may require additional attention. However, I use both on a dark car. Z-5 since it has some filler, then top with Z-2. It would not hurt to use more than one coat of either or both. If you are using ZFX, you can apply in almost any order since the drying time is shortened. Although there are mixed reviews: consider Z-CS, then, then next day Z-8 or Z-6. If you are on a budget or trying Zaino for the first time, Z-5, at least 2 coats; then Z-6 or Z-8. Dawn and Clay first.



Next time you'll probably get the entire Zaino line.

If you would recommend (for a budgeted detail) the most pertinent Zaino product, and go cheap the rest of the way, which would you recommend? I need some sealant or wax protection as well as minor scratch repair.
 
My bare minimum for Zaino products would be Z6, ZAIO, Z5, Z8. But I would spend the money and purchase Z2Pro, Z7, and ZPC-Fusion just to have everything for your paint.
