Ya i know! I have tried polishing it but then it just looks like a clean crappy muffler. I will have to pressure wash that next time haha.

what about trying some flat black engine paint on the muffler? i have done it before. it can handle teh temperature the exhaust gets to. your car looks great.

would flat black look good? I cant say i have seen many flat black mufflers. FWIW, norah suggested that too.

Flat black would look better than it looks right now. Remember to prep the muffler really well first. Grind the crap out of it so the black doesn't flake off. You'll have to take the muffler to do it right, but it really would look a lot better.

Is taking it off an easy job? If i could take it off I would maybe try doing that. or just really giving it a good polish.

You could always just upgrade it. Not some 5" tip fart can or anything, but there are a lot of nicer mufflers you could have put on for not a lot of money. Call around to local muffler shops and see what a new one would run. That way you don't have to worry about paint flaking off and having it stand out.

That really does look great. It goes back to what I've always said... If I had a show car then it would be red. If Subaru's red didn't look orangish then I would have gotten a red Legacy instead of blue.

i have seen it where the muffler is black, with a chrome tip on the end. clean off any rust and primer it first to help it stick better. you may have to take off the muffler strap to lower it enough but hat is not hard to do. if you don't have access to a hoist, backing it up on ramps would be the easiest way.

My car came with the mufflers painted flat black from the factory. Although, it also came with chrome tips. So, you really only see the tips. I definitely think the black will help to hide the muffler.

Great job on the detail too. That's a lot and I do mean of lot of layers you put on.

I don't get it Greg. I saw your car a couple weeks ago and it seemed like the climate you were in was with snow? Good looking on the car though :beer_smil

We have had about 3 weeks of abnormally high temps with no snow! I love it. Temps have been in the high thirties and somedays mid 40's.

I've had Zaino on my car now for almost a year. Regular washes and boosters of spray and gloss and it still beads. Not super tight beads, but beads. I traded all my Zaino stuff to Detail barn because I got so frustrated with trying to see it to make sure I got it on and then wiped off. After seeing the durability i'm kind of sorry that I traded it. I got a good deal from detail barn, but if I had it to do over I probably wouldn't have done it.

gratuitious flake shot!
