Zaino Z6 shelf life

According to Zaino, the useable shelf life of their Z6 detailing spray just simply says 5+ years, but the bottle I've got is from 1998! (I won a free kit and never really used the spray, the bottle is so old that you can't even read the label anymore!) :)

Do you guys think this stuff will still be ok to use until I can purchase a new bottle? (I'm waiting until I see one of the local Zaino reps at a car show since I don't want to spend $13 for shipping on an $11 item!) What's the worst that can happen when using an old bottle of detailing spray like this? Could it cause streaking or will it simply not give as good of a shine?

I just switched back to Zaino again after a few disappointing years of trying other stuff, and figured I should switch to their detailing spray as well. I've got some fresh bottles of the Mother's California Gold and Meguiar's UQD, so would you guys suggest using either one of those over the mega old Z6? Is it really that critical to use a detailing spray from the same company as the LSP you use?

well never know until you try it, cause we dont store bottles that old. My gues it will be bad, because its 2010 now, u might use it for 7-8 but now that long. it probably dry already

If detailing spray went "dry" then there would be nothing left of it, I've never seen a dry liquid before :chuckle:

I realize I could just give it a try, but it's a rainy/cold/windy day here today so my car is staying tucked away nice and clean in my garage for now so I won't be able to test it out until tomorrow or Monday to see if it is still any good or not (my garage lighting isn't good enough to see the paint perfectly, so I'd hate to spray this stuff on it and then pull it out into the sun and see massive streaking or something)

I have some that is probably 6+ years old, it is still fine, its not going to make your paint peel or anything like that. You can also try the Duragloss stuff, its supposed to be very similar to Z6.

Make sure you shake the heck out of it. I am currently using some Z products that have passed the "experation" date. I have a hard time using them up within the date, because I only use the products on my truck and a little goes a long way.

It is a nice sunny day here today so I put on a fresh coat of Z5 and decided to give the old Z6 a try and see how it performed. It turns out this stuff is still good! It worked beautifully, no streaking at all and it added a tiny bit more gloss to the finish as well. I'm sure a fresh bottle would've performed ever so slightly better, but I'll use up this bottle first, there is no sense wasting it!
