Zaino Z5 or Pinnacle Sovereign

I have a new black car and I do not seem to be having great fortune with Z5. Every time I wash the car ( I try to use the Perfect Drying Method) but I have to go over the car with vineger/water, then go over the whole car again with the Z6. In the sunlight the paint looks like it is covered with speckles instead of being solid black. The Z6 just spears and I cannot seem to get it to disappear. Plus when there are spots that have sat all week on the paint, I sometimes have to get the polish out to remove them, then the Z5 is gone, then have to prep the paint, then apply again yatta yatta yatta shewy- seems like too much and not practical.:rolleyes:



So what do you think of a wax instead?
 
Changing the protectant may help hide the spots that you are describing but would not solve the root cause. What are these spots? Sap? Minerals? their origin? Can this be avoided? Are these spots ever been completely eliminated ( prep) only to return after 1. a sunny day 2. precipitation 3. parked under or near trees, construction site, house/building painting, etc:nixweiss.

The only cause I can think of for Z6 smearing is using too much product. Z6 is very concentrated. I have used Z6 on both sealants, resins and carnuaba. No problem with smearing. Are you using MF's or cotton towels? I find MF's ( especially DF Towels) much better for Z6 buffing.

In my opinion, it's easier to treat spots like the ones you describe if you just stick to a carnauba. You can get rid of spots using a paint polish and then wax-on/wax-off that spot in a total time of like 5 minutes. Zaino requires a relatively lengthy cure time. Zaino + zfx requires some set up time as well as some cure time, not to mention that it's impractical to mix up just enough to treat half a door or a c-pillar.



If you can either live with the spots, or can change your wash and dry method so that you do not get them, zaino would be good. If you feel the need to pick at these spots and z6 is not removing them, then a paint polish / carnauba might be easier.
 
I have spent hours and hours and hours on using a PC and yellow an white pads, 3M FCRC, Menzerna IP, Menzerna FP, MF towels etc etc etc. and still the paints looks like crud.



There are sparkles, speckles metallic looking but very ueven looking. Does not look like this is part of the paint. Who knows.
 
This is on a 2003 brand new car? You are calling the surface of a brand new Infinity "crud"? Sounds like that is something you should take up with the dealership. If you can't get a brand new car to acceptable standards then there is something wrong with the automobile. If hours and hours polishing with mulitple level abrasive products doesn't make a black car shine then you have a defective car that needs to be returned. If the metal flake in the paint looks like crud then take the car back and get it repainted under warranty.
 
I did clay first. There is even a section of the car that the paint looks like it did not get clearcoated. You can only see this when you put a halogen up to it. But it is about 4 square feet worth on the panel.



What a pain it would be for me to tell the dealer to repaint the car. I would love to, but I have to say I am not great at arguing my case well enough to get it to happen most likely. What I say looks like crud and what they say is crud are two different things you can well imagine.
 
If the paint is truly defective, no arguement skills are necessary. Start with your salesman and move up the ladder until the situation is rectified. If I am not mistaken that's an expensive (relatively) automobile and a used neglected or defective appearing finish should not be acceptable. If you can not argue your case find, a Lemon Law specialist to present it for you.

Good luck and do not accept less than you expected from this new vehicle. I have never dealt with Nissan but my experiences with Lexus (Toyota) has been excellent.
 
I agree about taking it back to them.



Once its painted properly, on black, there really is no substitute/comparison for souveran. It is perfection!! hehe
