Zaino Z-5Pro by hand or PC?

For Z-5 Pro, am I likely to get better results by hand or by using a PC 7424?

The car is 2 days old, German, and this is its first detail. I have already washed it with Dawn, then clayed, then washed again with Z-7. Next step is Z-AIO, then Z8, then Z-5 Pro x 2, then CS. The Z-AIO will be done using the orbital. Should I use it for the Z-5 Pro too?

I'd just apply it by hand. You're not really going to gain anything by applying it via PC other than possibly saving some time, but you'll probably use less product by hand.

I always apply Z2/5pro by hand.

Do you have any Z6 to use instead of the Z8 after ZAIO?

You can use the Z8 a day later or after the next wash. Always after CS.

I do it both ways - PC is quicker and easier, but you use a lot more product. You're probably looking at roughly twice as much. Figure the cost of your time vs. the cost of product.

I prefer doing it by PC because it is quicker and easier, but like themightytimmah mentioned, you do use more product.

I apply it by hand. I'll have to try it via PC or Cyclo too, since the Z5 Pro is a bit thicker than the original Z5 and isn't quite as easy to spread.

BTW, no need for a Dawn wash if you clay and use ZAIO.

After using the ZAIO I would apply by hand. The surface will be very slick and hand application will be very easy. PC is perfectly reasonable but the little time saved at this stage will be lost when completely cleaning another pad. The pad must be thoroughly cleanse because Z2/5 mixed with ZFX will harden in the PC pad.

Thanks all. I took the majority's advice and applied the first layer of Z-5 by hand. I ZFX'd it first, and it sure seemed to dry really fast. So fast that it was difficult to spread around unless I worked very quickly. On my dark car it's not easy to see where you've applied it, or judge the evenness. I'm about to wipe it off and move on to Z-8 before applying the second coat of Z-5.

BTW, just the Z-AIO on its own made it very glossy and slick. Can't wait until I'm done with the whole enchilada.

I don't have any Z-6, so I have to use the Z-8 for the "in-between" steps. Zaino's website says you can use either Z-6 or Z-8 for that. I got all the way through the CS step and I'll do a final Z-8 tomorrow a.m. The gloss and slickness is impressive.

I tried Z-6 in between coats but I never really see any differance. It does make application more slick.

As for applying Z-8.. YES! It makes a big differance! Great stuff.

Very true, Z6 usage between coats is mainly used to prep the finish. A Z6 wipe down will insure all previous applied non-bonded Z2/5 is removed and also provide an extremely slick surface for the next layer. Slickness greatly aid in the application of a very thin coat. Any actual visual detectable difference between using or not using Z6/8 between coat is minimal at best. Completely optional and one should not feel short-changed when not performing the Z6/Z8 between coat step.

Z8 is the BOMB.:bigups
