Whew! It's over. It was hard work, but I am VERY pleased with the results. Many thanks to everyone on this board who recommended S100. I love this stuff! So easy to apply and remove, and it does darken the paint just a bit. Looks much better in person than these pictures can attest. :xyxthumbs

So, please indulge me as I post a few pictures of my pampered baby.

It's freakin' gorgeous man!

Paint looks good too.

Just kidding, of course: both the paint and the car (I love the design) are fabulous.

Man that is some car -- I mean, my 3 handles like a dream.....I can only imagine. Sat in one the other day at the dealership and played with the shifter -- do you think I should get an aftermarket short shifter put in mine? They sure seem slick (and I don't mean Autopian slick! :) ).

Anyway, happy driving, and don't drive it off the road gawking at the women gawking at you!

Thanks for the compliments, 3Wheeler. I actually am a woman, so I hope not too many of them are gawking at me. ;)

I really like the Mazda3. It's selling great, and I'm happy Mazda has another hit on its hands, along with the 6. I'm trying to convince a friend of mine to get either the 3 or the 6. Anyway, you might try getting a different shift knob for the 3 if the shifter seems a little long. A shorter shift knob can make a big difference. I replaced my 8's shift knob with a Voodoo, and it's sooo much smoother.

The 8 handles wonderfully, that's really its strong suit. I had a Miata and the 8 handles almost as well, especially considering it's bigger. But the 8 is a bit faster and more practical.

Thanks again!

very clean! but it still has the zaino look where it appears to be made out of plastic to me... not a big fan of the wax.

Well, I guess it's hard to capture in pictures. As I did half the trunk with S100 and buffed it off, I could definitely see a darker/wetter look from the S100. I wish I'd taken a pic then, but I don't know if it would've shown up anyway.

I long to try Souveran some day, but I need a someone to offer a discount. :)

OOOOOPS!:o

Stupid of me to make the assumption.....I'm going to blame it on the fact that the coffee was still brewing when I made the post.

I love my 3 -- its handling & speed, its looks -- it's got it all! It's my new (almost entirely consuming) hobby. :)

wow, great job... i wonder what sweet girl drives that sweet car, with the sweet finish.... im a teenager with raging hormones, just ask ranney:D. anyways, all i gotta say is WOW. thats the car that my friend wants to get too, except he wanted his in black, though his mom wants him to get it in red. my friend is chinese, and its a chinese belief that red = good luck and black = bad luck... in reality, both are great colors to get your car in. however, i think youve enlighened me, i like that blue. was the blue originally that light, or was it a result of the process you went through?

zesty-man,

This girl is probably twice your age. :scared Buzzkill! :scared :D

Ha! Thank you for the compliments. You can't go wrong with black, red OR blue in this car. The black is gorgeous, and is my favorite color for any car, but I have had a black car before and didn't want to deal with the many pitfalls of owning black (obvious swirls, almost always looks dirty, etc.). I think the black kind of hides the lines of the car a bit, too.

The red and blue are both metallic colors, with the red having a great gold flake, and the blue has nice silver flakes. The blue on mine is actually a little bit darker now with the S100 on it. But those pictures are a bit deceiving. The car looks darker in person. And lighting greatly influences how it looks as well.

Put it this way, if your friend wants to be noticed, the blue (or red) is hard to miss. It is very bright, and I really like it a lot. If he wants to just have a cool-looking car but not have everyone look at him, the black would be the way to go.

hehe, thanks for the heads up. my friend comes from a rich family, so he can have whatever he wants... as for the blue, thats what i thought, it would be darker. i thought i saw another rx-8 somwhere around that was blue. very nice, i think when i go to purchase a car (probably a civic/accord), im gonna get it in blue. i think youve just put me over the top with that color.

i guess that means that youre i person that wants to get noticed :).

Well, believe it or not, I felt very uncomfortable when I first got the car. People looking as I drove by kind of freaked me out. My last car was an Accord, which I loved, but it didn't get many looks.

But, you know, after a while, I got used to it, and kind of started to like it. :D

Car looks great..... did you clean and polish the wheel wells? If you didn't this will help the apperance of the car.

Thank you bigguy. Well, I always wash the wheel wells when I wash the car, but have not "polished" them. And I agree in that one picture, the wheel well doesn't look so hot with the sun shining on it.

What do you recommend? I have some 303 Protectant. Would that work well on the wheel well?

You'll make out just fine with good ol' Armor All. Keep the 303 for the interior

I use it on tires too. It lasts long, water based and it's CHEAP!

If you have a Costco membership, you can get a two pack for @ $7.

Try it, you'll see it'll fit the bill and budget :xyxthumbs

I saturate and old terry rag, turn the steering wheel all the way so I can get in there and wipe down. Just give them a good cleaning first as you know. :)
