Zaino system without Zaio or zfx

I want to try z2 without z-all in one first or zfx enabled z2 how should I go about prepping car first. According to Zaino I am supposed to use one of the two first but do not want to.

Z2 does need a bonding agent in order to properly coat the surface as far as I know. Don't think they make Z1 any more, but you might be able to get away with the Duragloss bonding agent instead (#601).

Agree. If you don't want to do ZFX, then use AIO. But Z2 and ZFX should go together for durable results.

I talked to Sal a few days ago and he claimed you're only getting about 60% of the zaino system without zfx. That doesn't say z-2/3/5 are worthless without zfx, it just shows how much more you get when you add zfx as a bonding agent. I'd say if you already have the correction you want as your base, then go with ZFX. If you like the minimal correction that a mild AIO like ZAIO will give you, then go that route as your base.

Lookswise, you can apply it to clean paint (IPA). Z2 and Z5 have plenty of solvents in them, they will bond just fine. You might not get the uber long beading as you would if you prepped the Zaino way, but the looks will be there.

I've never buyed into zaino that bonding stuff. My plain ole sealants and carnaubas have bonded just fine for many years with no special hoopla.

Very rarely do I use ZFX when using Z2 or Z5 as a stand alone ala carte application. But, I don't need them to last super long either as I'm semi-regular with reapplication.
