Zaino Syringe 86 cents

I know that it has been suggested that to keep from wasting Zaino that you mix it with the ZFX in a syringe. Well, I'd planned on going by a vet supply place and seeing if I could get one, but then this Friday at Wal-Mart (Supercenter) in the sauce and marinade section, there were 1 oz marinade injectors for 86 cents. Just thought I'd pass that on.

cool...thanks!...i was wondering where i could purchase those syringes other than a vet supply shop(the drawbacks i have living in a farm land area) ...have you tried it out yet?...how does it work?...

Well, it's a syringe that holds 1 oz. Since it's designed to inject marinade, I'm sure the Zaino will have no problem. I'll probably not do any detailing this weekend besides random puttering around. I'll pick a nice hot day to put three coats on my car and my wifes.

They're great! I've been using one of these for a a few months. (If nobody else gets a pic on the board, I'll try to snap one tonight.) But they're the dickens to clean. Can't get into the metal connection part. So ... at under $1 each, I just discard them.

How do you get the Z2 inside the syringe if your Z2 bottle is already half empty??

I think you can add ZFX thru the tip of the syringe but is the tip wide enough to line up with the Z2 bottle's nozzle??

As for adding the zfx, I'd do that by pulling out the plunger. And I'm not going to have the metal part on...man, that's an accedent waiting to happen.

ZFX is a flash curative. You should have gotten some literature with your order.

[Wait, how is this syringe thing supposed to work again?}

Helpful hint for those of you using syringes . . .

Filling and mixing can be a hassle, because when you try to re-insert the plunger back into the barrel, you have to fight the air pressure pushing back. If mixing ZFX, that can be a pain, as you need to at least get a few shakes in to combine the Z and ZFX before you can invert the syringe and release the pressure.

To solve the problem, heat up piece of metal with a small diameter (I used a metal barbeque skewer), and burn a hole into the barrel a short distance from where you would insert the plunger, like so:

Now you'll be able to insert the plunger into the barrel a short distance (far enough to get a good seal) without any buildup of back-pressure.

Here's a shot of the syringe I found.

I agree with Tortoise AWD: The pressure can pose a problem. Your trick sounds good.

I do use the metal part, because I'm just applying the Z to a foam pad. So no risk of the metal tip touching the paint finish. And these marinade syringes don't have a tiny sharp point like medical syringes do; they're actually rather blunt.

Thanks Lynn...now I know exactly what I'm looking for...just out of curiosity, are there any unit markings (oz,cc,etc...) on the syringe or is the full capacity 1oz...

TIA

Yes, it does have unit markings, and 1 oz. is the capacity. As somebody else noted, when you use ZFX it can be a bit challenging to mix it thoroughly. But when using straight Z2/Z5, it's a nifty tool.

I discovered early that it's best (IMO, of course) to only mix 1/2 oz. at a time in a 1 oz. syringe. That way, when you fill the syringe and put the plunger back in to shake it up, there's enough airspace so that the fluid will really agitate as you shake it. The first time, I tried to mix up an entire ounce . . . total pain-in-the-backside to get it mixed up, as there was very liitle air left in the syringe.

After thinking about it, I'm planning to:

1. remove plunger.

2. Add four drops ZFX.

3. Reinsert plunger (but not squirting out ZFX due to surface tension along plastic hopefully)

4. Attatch needle and suck up some Z2.

I haven't planned on getting any Zaino at the time being. My comment is....

Have you ever noticed how detail oriented (no Pun Intended) we detailers are about EVERYTHING.

Tortoise dvised a plan to prevent back pressure (SYRINGE BACK PRESSURE RELIEF).

Mixing half ounce in ounce syringe for maximum air.

Not a complaint by the way just a funny observation. You find this kind of pecision in nearly every thread. IT'S GREAT
