Zaino recommends cotton?

Ok, so on the Zaino website, they recommend that you use 100% cotton towels and applicators for washing, drying, polishing, waxing, etc. Most other sites and people recommend high quality microfiber. What do you guys think about this? Are we safe with cotton?

The higher quality towels that are recommended actually are good at removing the Zaino products. The same results can be achieved with a good quality microfiber too. I wouldn't use a towel to wash or dry with.

Have you used the grout sponge? Is it as safe to use as sheepskin/wool? Any swirls from using it?

I like the feeling of Sheepskin in my hands. But the grout sponge cleans pretty damn well for a sponge. I haven't encountered any marring from what I can tell. But once springs rolls back around. I am going to polish my car to 100% defect free and then use the Sponge and see how good it really is.

In my experience, there is no better towel to remove a wax or sealant than one of DF Towel.

I pretty much use MF applicators (brick style), MF towels for residue removal, and WW towels for drying.

I\'ve read the same thing at the zaino website (cotton vs MF) and, IMHO, I think the reluctance to endorse MF products is due to the wide variation in content & quality.

Sal\'s 100% cotton recommendation even restricts selection to certain store brands so I think Sal is just covering himself and saying his fine products will yield best results when used with what he perceives as the best towels/applicators.

I\'m sure he would/could easily recommend some top-of-the-line MF towels but then he would be endorsing a particular MF vendor\'s site.

I used to use 100% cotton diapers for removing polishes and waxes. They worked just fine. I use MF now, but see no reason quality cotton towels or diapers can not be used.

I have had issues with mircromarring or spiderwebbing with cotton. I too have been an very satisfied zaino custmer for about 3 years and in the beginig used high quality cotton but I noticed a while back that using cotton to dry has swirlled my finish. I polishedmy car to about 85% this summer and have used a water magnet and mf towels with excellent results. Also cotton will only hold so much water and waffle weave and microfiber hold a lot more. I bet that my water magnet holds as much if not more than a full soze cotton bath towel which is times it's size. So pretty much microfiber in, cotton out.

I use both cotton and MF's on my vehicles with no negative effects from either. This result is not based on the material used "but" the care they receive (washing & drying) during their lifetime.

High quality of either material and proper care will produces wonderful results with any LSP. Just use your tactile sense and not the material being judged as your deciding factor.

If it feels soft, use it.

I always thought that 100% cotton cloths removed Klasse SG better than microfiber, which tended to leave 'micro-smears' on the surface. I used 100% cotton for the Zaino and it worked perfectly - with no marring, so I don't see a reason to go away from cotton.

If MF is working for some, that's fine too! Different strokes . . .

On occasion Ive had to use cotton towels. Mind you they are the high quality ones. Work fine. My wife wasn't real thrilled when I swiped them from the formal bathroom

I prefer microfiber towels, but DF Towels work AWESOME with Zaino.

Zaino cotton applicators are great.

For washing, sheepskin or grout sponges.

Once you find the right cotton towels (which was a chore on its own), they can work just as great as a microfiber towel. I do tend to use the microfiber towels more, but they are both pretty equal in my book.
