Zaino Question

I am going to try the Saino system and want to know if it is necessary to first wash with Dawn or can I use another shampoo such as Pinnacle, Mothers, or Gold Class.

Also is it necessary to use Z5 (for swirls) if I don't have any swirls.

How about the need for Z6 Gloss Enhances Spray. Is it necessary. Can I use the system without the Z6 or is it all part of the process?

Last question.....Do I need to purchase Z7 Car Wash or can I use one of the ones I mentioned earlier?

I know there are a bunch of Zaino users out there that can clarify some of these questions.

Thanks for your help!

the reason to use dawn is to remove the wax from your finish 1st so the zaino will bond to the paint itself.

if you dont have swirls, get the z2pro instead of the z5. and i like the z6 between coats of polish because it helps to activate the shine a little better.

i have used other soaps before, but use mainly the z7.

Z7 is definately a nice shampoo, smells nice *blackcurrent* and is nice and sudsy -- but its not really mandatory. I use MGC usually (because I still have so much of it left). Z7 is formulated to be compatible with Z2Pro -- but how much difference a 'compatible' car shampoo can make I question - Pick any shampoo based on its cost, pH neutral, gentle to wax, lubricating feel, amount of suds/foam.

I guess the only question that I am stuck on is whether or not to use Z6 (gloss enhancer). Some of you Zaino apologists, please help me make up my mind. I really appreciate it.

like i said, the z6 is designed to activate/re-activate the shine on the finish.

i have one coat of z2 pro on my vette and it was looking kinda blah today when i was gonna drive it to work, so i hit it with a quck wipe down of z6 and the shine was like new again.

its only like 10 or 12 bucks, it cant hurt to give it a try

If you have a vendor near by go get it. If not, go to the web site and order four bottle's and hope that Z-8 will be out soon.

Z-6 works so well on my wife's car she is going to use it to help maintain the shine. Probably will only do it once. It does make a difference. It is noticeable!

Thanks for the replies. I am convinced. I will order some tomorrow and incorporate in between coats of Z2 pro. I think I am going to try 3 layers of Z2 pro and see how it looks.

Again, thanks.

I love the Z7. Suds are awesome and leaves a clean slick surface. It works hard too.......removes bugs and tar very well.:xyxthumbs

Using Z-6 and Z-7 definitely makes a difference for me. These two products, as part of a system, work with Z-2/Z-5 better than any other "system" I've tried.

Like colche said, they certainly aren't mandatory, but the whole process works better and is more enjoyable when using Z-6 & Z-7.

Here's a link to an old thread that makes a pretty good case for the benefits of using these products.

The Value of Z-6 and Z-7

Z7 is a great car wash. Suds up and cleans really well, much better than the other washes I've used on my cars.

The Z6 will help enhance the shine and does a great job of decreasing dust build up on the finish of the paint. I use it both before and after applying the Z2 or Z5 polish.

So yes, it's worth using both.

I substitute Sonus Acrylic Spray detailer for the Z6, it works just fine and IMO enhances the shine between layers just fine with no problems so far. I also have Z6, but like the Sonus better.

I use the Z2Pro/Z6/Z7 combo. Works great! Water still beads nicely and the shine is still fantastic.

I have a 2002 Dolphin Gray Audi A4. Last night, I walked past a new A4 (2004 model) that was exactly like mine. It still had the temporary tag on it. The car was clean, but the paint didn't look as good as my 3+ year old paint!

Zaino is great stuff. Just remember to prep well. (Even on a new car.)

Regards,

Dan.

I love both the Z6 and Z7. Well worth the purchase.

For 1st time users, I recommend trying to stay within the Zaino family of products so that you can get a true evaluation of the system without outside product interference.

After this point you can experiment with other products and evaluate if they produce equivalent results. :wavey

On my Polar Silver 986S, Z6 really add more shine among other QD I have used.

Buy a few more if you can't wait the upcoming Z8.

BookemDano,

You talk about "prep well" even a new car. What are the things you would do to prep a new car that's virtually swirl-free. The only thing I can think of is a good "dawn" wash followed by claying (and then maybe another wash to remove clay residue), before the Zaino LSP.

Maybe I would go over it with FP just to ensure you have the ultimate prep if the paint is that good, no dealer damage , etc. New paint is great usually, but not always 100% perfect. IMO

5 days before I get my Z8 !:bounce

Once a paint surface is cleaned (and I'm not suggesting that Dawn is ideal for this, but that's another post subject) and has been clayed and polished I would use KAIO as a 'prep' for anything inc Zanio

A very wise man gave me a good polish prep tip for Zaino. Try the 1Z MP after claying. Wash with Z7 or wipe with Z6......then the Z2 Pro.
