this is on a brand new car



Once i wash the car with dawn, do i dry and then appy some Z-6 before i apply the first coat of Z2? Or do i just dry the car and apply the Z2?



Also any one have any tips on how to apply polish to the car?
 
After washing with Dawn, dry your car and technically, you apply Z-1 (polish lock) first, then apply Z-2 over the Z-1 (do not buff out the Z-1 application) and let it dry (usually over nite unless if you mix ZXF in). You can use Z-6 as the wetting agent instead of water when applying Z-1 or Z-2. You will get a better shine. After hand polishing or buffing the Z-2 off, apply Z-6 and hand buff out for a deep and wet shine. Since you only have the Z-2 and Z-6, can wait until the Z-2 dries or hazes and hand buff it off. Remember a small amount of Zaino goes a long ways.



If you want an exceptional shine, then after using Dawn, claybar your entire car, then apply Zaino.

this is that i am planing on doing



1. wash car with dawn

2. dry

3. apply some Z-6

4. aplly Z-2

5. buff ofd Z-2

6. aplly 2 more coats of Z-2



Should i skip step 3 and just apply the Z-2 right after i dry the car? or should i do step 3?
 
If you end up with any water spots on the car after washing and drying, then go ahead and Z6 the car. Also make sure to Z6 in between each coat of Zaino and after the final coat. I'd also really consider using a clay bar before you Zaino. Even though it is a new car, it most likely has contaminants on the paint from transporting, sitting on the dealer's lot, etc.

Apply Z-2 right after you dry your car. Instead of water to wet the applicator when applying Z-2, I use Z-6. After buffing out the Z-2, I spray a section with Z-6 and buff that out, Repeat until you are done. As noted by others, between each layer of Z-2 or after each Z-2 application, apply Z-6 to get a deep shine and it will cut down on the static electricity.



Remember, if you mix ZFX with Z-2, you have a time limit to use all of it before it dries. So just mix enough for each layer.

This plan is right on track. I would go ahead with the Z6 after dry for two reasons:



1. As already mentioned it will take care of any water spots that may be present.



2. It will ensure the surface is totally clean and dry, as well as adding some slickness to the paint which will probably help your Z application a bit.



You can skip if you like, it is not totally necessary, but if it were me I would follow your plan.



Also, don't forget to Z6 between your Z2 coats! :xyxthumbs
 
I didn't bother to Z6 before the first layer. You should be able to take a straight Microfiber towel and wipe off the waterspots (if you missed these when drying). They won't have stuck themselves. Z6 should be unecessary I would think. You can if you want just seems like a waste. Do whatever to make sure all the spots are gone before applying.



I wouldn't Z6 just to Z6--the Z2 should bond fine (with the ZFX) to the surface after the dawn washing and drying. Unless you just like to Z6 which some people do, but I think they are just getting high off the smell.

I'd also suggest claying your car, even though it's brand new. I went the clay route with my new car before applying Zaino and it was pretty amazing what it picked up.
