Zaino Protection?

My car has etching all over the flat surfaces. In the past I've used carnaubas including 845. I don't buy into the theory that carnaubas protect better than sealants. I've found Zaino keeps the car cleaner than anything else including 845.
 
It might be that Zaino doesn't cover up the spots as well. We all know that Zaino tends to show scratches and swirls more than most carnaubas.

So true. What makes us different from the "average" car washer and gives us the right to label ourselves "detailers" is the fact that we eliminate these blemishes dismissing the need for "make-up, we take care in not reproducing marring (2 bucket washes, foam gun, etc) and we timely correct or remove assaults (i.e bird crud) that will eventually penetrate all types of LSP.

I agree, but out of curiosity, aren't you the guy who used to use Zaino and then completely stopped because you preferred the Duragloss products? It seems that I remember you talking up DG at every opportunity, and made reference to DG in your signature, but now your signature only mentions Zaino. :think:
 
damn I just zainoed my car ha ha. only on the vertical surfaces though. if it is worth anything

the car has been driven through rain and wet roads and the sides of the car look pretty clean.

guess the slickness lets water just run off the vertical surfaces. for the hood and roof I'm using #16
 
If you are going to go with Collinite and are afraid to keep using Z-8 you could switch to FK425. It is wax friendly and is similar to Z-8 in looks but not as durable.

There was a whole thread (that eventually got locked I think) where Mike called Sal, they had a conversation, and Mike came back to Zaino. It was Autopian drama at its best...better than Lifetime TV.



EDIT: Mike, I'm not making fun of you...just expressing how I read it at the time.

I've gotten bad spotting with Zaino as well, and I don't chalk it up to "very tight beading" either. The Collinite 845 beads just as well, if not better than Z2 Pro, and I don't get spotting with it like I did with Z. Not saying I don't like Z2 Pro, I just think it spots really bad.

My experience too. The spotting I got when using Zaino needed to be polished to correct but other LSPs generally need QD or paint cleaner to fix.

Thanks for reminding me; I hunted it up and re-read. I remember that thread starting out, but sure didn't recall the conclusion . . .



As a reminder to anyone that is "beta-testing" for Zaino, or anyone taking free product from any manufacturer or vendor in exchange for reviews, please include it in your signature. (I'm not saying you're back testing again, Mike, but *if* you are, please fix your sig).

OP, here.

Just wanted to bring up this old thread and let everybody know that my 2002 Accord remains etch free with the continued use of Colinite 845. After switching from Z2 shortly after my original post, etching never returned. I did, however, use Z8 once or twice afterward, and wouldn't you know it, etching returned!!!!!! It's been etch free for almost 4 years, now, using 845.
 
I keep getting mild etching too, just recently noticed on 1/2 the Sportwagen I did for the Speed vs ZAIO comparison. I really wish I knew what was causing it because it is not consistent. I can go for months and everything is fine, then I get etching. This time the Speed (later covered with FK1000P) side is fine. Arggggg..... I'm ready to throw all my Zaino and DG stuff out when this happens, but I love the look.
