Zaino products with PC...

How you all doing? Been lurking for a few weeks now, and I just received my PC yesterday. I wanted to give my new car a full Zainoing and was wondering how well their products work with the PC. I have used Zaino many times by hand and although it is not that hard to do by hand, I would like to use the PC in hopes of getting better results. My car is a 2006 Black Audi A3. It came from the dealer with allot of tiny scratches, assuming from the poor wash job they did to it, and 1 aplication of Z5 by hand did not do the trick. I was going to do this, what do you think.

My last application went: Dawn wash, Clay Bar, Z7 wash, Z5 by hand, Z2, Z6... looked good, but there was still some minor scratches. I used the 100% cotton towels as recomended, however I think I will switch to all high end micro fiber this time around.



1 last note. I parked under a freaking pine tree yesterday (no choice) and I got it good. Usually the Z7 wash a few times will get that off, should I re clay, or will the wash be enough to prep for the Z5, Z2 combo. Thanks for the help. BTW, I can't beleive how great looking you guys keep your cars. All the pictures posted are SICK, I would LOVE to get mine that nice.
 
No amount of Zaino is going to take out those "tiny scratches". You will need to polish (don't be fooled by Zaino calling Z2 & Z5 "polishes") to remove them. You can use the new Z-PC Fusion, or anything you like, but make sure you get it clean again before you apply the Z5/Z2.
 
Can I mix the Sonus products with Zaino. ie. Z5, Z2 over the Sonus... I have a fresh new plasitc wrapped bottle of the Sonus something or other polish.

Okay I see now that I need to use a polish, but can I mix the Sonus product with the Zaino?
 
Might need to Z7 wash again, as most polishes will have some amount of lubrication oils in them, which might interfere with the Z bonding.
 
Find out which Sonus polish you have. If it is their mildest version, yes this with the PC (polishing pad) and patience will correct your blemishes. If not, you will need to get a mild polish like Zaino PC Fusion, Menzerna FPII or PO85RD or Einzsett MP. If you use the Zaino PC Fusion a post polishing wash is not necessary. The others will require to post wash or IPA wipedown prior to Z5 application for maximal bonding.



Zaino uses "polish" as his descriptive term for the Z protectants. The Z2-PRO, Z2, Z5 and Z3 have no polishing actions. These protectants are completely abrasive-free. One must prep surface (polish) to remove any reasonably repairable blemishes.



Yes, I would clay if surface feels rough (plastic baggy on hand test) :wavey .
 
Sounds great! Thanks for all the great info!! I originally thought I would be doing this ASAP, but something came up. I am going to try and do a wash tonite and then determine where I am at (plastic baggy trick). I will be sure to post a follow up, or a new thread with photos.

As far as the Z, it's all about the prep. I think polished out well, then AIO, then the Z5, you have a pretty much winner on your hands. I am very happy with the Z. As far as plasticy and no depth, I don't know where those assertions come from. I think because most people who use Z do Dawn, Clay, Z1, then Z5 or Z2 is the reason. They don't have that crucial polishing step to remove the swirls and leave a deeper gloss in the paint.

Thanks for adding that to this thread. I went and checked it out. I am ready to go, all I need to do is get some time. After this next 6 day job I should be ready to go.
