Zaino prep question

Hi Cozmo, I too find the Z2 Pro is kinda finicky to use. If you applied too thin, the surface will not be very slick to touch. But the beading and durability is still good.

But if u applied too thick it's quite harder to buff off. But the paint will be very slick. Kinda like as slick as Duragloss 105. I don't have WG, so I wouldn't know how WG feels like.

This is what I encounter on Z2 Pro too. So I guess Z2 Pro needs to be applied in just the right amount of product to get the slickness up to par. But the slickness does last for quite a long time. This are my own finding of the usage. Anyone one else find this too...? :) But I did found out that using WOWO method to apply a thick coat of Z2 Pro, it'll be very slick....

The slickness of some products is because of the lubricating oils used and drops after a couple washes. Zaino doesn't have oils and probably isn't as slick as other products. IMO slickness isn't the most important thing to look for in a LSP.

Well, I ended up applying 3 coats yesterday. Slickness is better but not as good as WG. Gloss is pretty good. All in all I spent about 6 hours from prep to last coat removal. Z-2 Pro is ok but I think I'll go back to WG. It's a good thing I have a garage because it rained last night and this morning. I'm glad I kept my work truck for days like this.

Well, IMHO, Zaino is one of the only true paint care "systems". Meaning, that the paint care products are actually made to work together to improve the end result. Ultima may be another one... not sure yet. Duragloss could be another example. Even Klasse AIO/SG could be considered a "mini system".

With that said, I think that the only way to give the Zaino system a true evaluation is to use all the Zaino products. At a minimum... Z7 wash, Z2 Pro (or Z5 Pro), Z6, and Z8.

Of course, that doesn't necessary mean that any of those system will work for you, or that you will like the end result. However, it does mean... to give them a fair evaluation, you should commit to the total system.

Good luck with your WG.

Just my 2 cents.

wannafbody is correct. Zaino could give you more slickness by adding oils and lubricants, but its objective is durability. To get the the slickness up by 25% hit it with Z8

All you need to perform is:

Regular shampoo wash is enough as long as the shampoo is free of protectants or loaded with oils. A Dawn wash will not hurt anything but since you are performing the steps below it is not necessary.

Clay - can be perform as you are washing

ZAIO

If you have Z6 a wipe down will remove any dusting. A damp MF wipe down will also work.

Z2-PRO

No need or benefit from the Medallion Paint Cleaner or the IPA wipedown

Admire your work and the appearance of your vehicle.

+1. Very good process for a hand system/

thanks wannafbody and Cleaning Fool, it does clear up the fact for me. I haven't got the Z8 yet. As I only have Z2 Pro and Z5 Pro. Thanks again. :)

Ok, I'll order the Z8 and give it a try. I guess I should have used this before my previous post.

Thanks
