Zaino Or Liquid Glass

Hey Ketchnu, whats up. LoL, when i'm detailing, i'm usually not on, and just catch up at night. LoL, Anyway, i was thinking about using zaino, but just wanted to get some feedback 1st.

As for the peanut butter, i just heat it in the microwave to make it softer, and rub it on the trim with my fingers and hard to reach craccks with a tooth brush. I do it before every auto show, or after each time i glass it. Its only a temporary fix, but it lasts me from 1-2 months, and by the time i need to redo the pb, its time to reglass anyway so... Its not messy if you don't use too much and rub it in good. Then just use a towell to buff any excess off. I'm sure i'll probably hear people disagreeing with me on here about the peanut butter trick, but it works for me, so....

.

Anyway, i'm not in the DC area very much at all, but if you're ever in the area up here, let me know. Be cool to get some pics of both the trucks.

thanks for the help, more opinions welcome

Have you considered Klasse? Some people seem to prefer Klasse on darker colors while liking Zaino on lighter colors. Klasse is also more economical and available from a wider variety of locations.

yeah, that was my other option. LG, Z, or K. I've been using LG, so i wanted to try something different. I'm leaning towards Z because i've heard alot of guys say that for the best shine you should leave the Klasse on for hours at a time and overnight and such, but i don't have a garage so it would make it a little harder for me.

Well if you find someone who uses it give it a try. I think even letting it sit for a short amount of time will produce impressive results that might suprise you.

thats the thing though. Nobody around me uses any of this kind of stuff. Z, LG, or K. So i can't compare them in person. :(

thanks though, keep the opinions posting

Leaving it on longer just makes it easier to buff off. You really only need to let it sit for an hour. Some people don't even wait taht long. I don't have a garage and I let Klasse sit for 24 hours before buffing... well more like 15hours maybe. Sometimes 24 though. It is hard to see the Klasse residue so I drive around with the truck before buffing.

I dunno...you have a black truck and Zaino does it's job on lighter colors...think about that...although i'm not saying zaino sucks on darker colors.

I'm going to be trying LG this saturday...the only thing I can say is you seem to take care of your beautiful truck daily so you could use LG even though it has bad durability...go pick some up at your local store...it's about $17 for a can...

Klasse is what I want to try next...AIO, SG, then another wax as a topper...I think you should try this...the wax topper will give you that shine maybe some say Klasse can't give on darker colored cars???

I just Z'd fpr the first time this past weekend. WOW! It looks awesome!!! I Have a black car with some swirl marks. The Z5 seemed to take care of most of the swirls. The third coat did the trick. The first looked good, but after the second and finally the third, it had the look i was looking for. I came yesterday and applied a 4th coat. I think I'm addicted now! I love the Z6 and Z7. the Z7 smells great too, I just want to drink it!! I also have never used any tire dressing better than the Z16. I Have a front air dam that below the front of the car and it always looked alittle dull. The Z16 did wonders and now looks new again. I must say though that after the Dawn wash and then appliying the Z5, the Z5 didn't go on that easy. I think it was just becaue the car was strtipped and it was adhering to the paint. Every coat there after went on easier. Defenitly use the Z6 between coats.

thanks for the responses.

Anyway, KCPreki11, LG goes for 20 bucks a can around here. And i have been using it for 2 years, but during the winter months, its kind of hard to apply the LG every month or 2 let alone every 2 weeks. Thats a reason i wanted to try Z cuz i heard it lasts longer.

Mags GN, maybe why the z5 was hard to go on after the dawn wash is cuz i thought the site said you were supposed to use z7 wash 1st??? When i do it, i'm going to wash with dawn, claybar, z7 wash, then z5 with zfx for a few coats and z6 after each, and then z2 with zfx for a few more coats and z6 after each. Thats seems to be what teh site recommends and alot of other people

thanks for hte help and responses, keep em coming. :)

I think next time I'll Z7 before my first coat. His literature that was sent with my products didn't indicate to use Z7. Just to dawn wash, for the best bonding. Yes i have heard on here to Z7 first. Now i'm wondering if my shine would be even better if I Z7 first. Oh well, my shine looks great. I also heard on here that the Z2 doesn't look as good as the Z5 on black. I have the Z2 and am contemplating wether to put it on and try it or not. According to Zaino, The Z2 is suppose be more optical. And suggests finishing with it as your last coat.

Anyone like the Z2 on black as a finisher?

BTW your truck looks awesome. I'm gonna do a few shows soon also ( my first one) Can you share any helpful tips? What do the judges look for?

Thanks

Thanks Mags GN. :) I've never seen a pic of your GN before, but i'm sure it looks cool. Its actually one of the few GM's that i like. :p .

Anyway, i was typing some tips for your 1st car show, but the power went out, so this is my 2nd time typing this, so its gonna be shorter before it goes out again. Basically, i was saying don't have high expectations for bringing an award home. Alot of shows are too much politics. At my last show i was in 1990-2002 stock class, and all 4 awards went to 2002's. two of those still had dealer tags, and probably have never been washed  The judging was a farce, too much favortism played too. And i don't mind losing to an equally nice vehicle or nicer one, but when a stock dodge dakota, and i mean bottom of the line, 15" steel rims, cloth interior, costing about 15 grand places above my 30K HD with stock bling bling 20's, all leather, stock tonneau, and everything else looking good as new with 20+ hours work into the truck and he had zippo hours into it, somethings not right there. Sometimes you expect to win and you don't, and sometimes you think you have no chance and you win something. Basically i got to hang out with other car friends, and meet new people, show off my ride, and meet other people. well its thundering again. I'm getting off before power goes out again. Good luck, let us know how your show goes.
