Zaino - Need Their Polish and/or QD?

NavArch

Just trying to catch up..
After reading a lot of people's experiences with Zaino, I'm thinking about going that direction in the Spring (tough to find enough nice work hours outdoors over the winter). Zaino's web site describes the use of their polish and QD in prepping for, and laying down layers of, Z-2. I've got various Meg's and HD polishes and swirl removers. And then there's the QD I just got..... So, are there any polishes or QDs that are incompatible with Zaino?

Their polish and QD aren't needed, its just apart of their system. Their QD is an excellent QD though, I thought it was well worth the purchase.

Use the whole Zaino line. Its well worth the money.

Most of the other polishes and swirl removers contain oils. You can still use them but you have to either wash the car before using Zaino, do a Z8 or Z6 wipe down or a alcohol wipe down.

I have had great results with #80 before ZPC came out.

I like Zaino but I don't like their polish Z-PC. Use what ever polish you like then do a alcohol wipe and put down the Zaino.

I agree that Zaino Z-6 and especially Z-8 are great products.

Zaino needs an oil free finish to adhere too. With that said, alomost nothing is compatable with Zaino unless you use ZCP before its use or do an IPA wipe down.

On the contrary though AIO has worked well for many directly under Zaino.

FPII has some very light polishing oils that you can see wipe away with the residue on a dark finish. I have had no problems with panels that were done side by side with ZPC and FPII being any more or less durable.

If you have and found a polishing regimen and products that give you the results you are looking for there is no need for Z-PC. A very good polish but not an absolute requirement. Just do a good wash down with a good degreasing vehicle shampoo or even "Dawn" this one time. if you order the Zaino Z7 car wash this will also remove polishing oils. Another very easy means to degrease is an Isopropyl alcohol wipe down. This is quik and very easy and inexpensive.

I highly recommend all of the Zaino exterior protection products especially the Z2-PRO, ZFX, Z6, Z7 and Z8 for starters. :buffing:

I'm also getting a Zaino system ready to order for spring for a 6-month old Porsche 911 Club Coupe.

One question...what does Z-5 provide besides some light swirl coverups? Does it add more gloss, extended durability, depth, shine, slickness? Is it needed on an almost perfect paint surface? Or is this a waste of $16.95?

I like to use Z5 because in my opinion, it has more depth than Z2 (Dunno about Pro, need to try that). I use Z5 as a base coat then layer away with the Z2.
