With my first post, let me initially state that I am so very impressed with the knowledge and expertise on this board. I am also pleased to see that there are lots of other people in this world just as particular as I am about there cars.

I also admit that I have a lot to learn.

Question:

I cleaned the exterior of my new Infiniti M35 Sport, dried her down, then applied two layers of Zaino Z-2 Pro. I managed to finish her up around 11:30 last night.

I wanted to spray some of the Z-8 seal on her, but as it was late I put it off until the following evening. Once I drove to my office, I noticed that my car seems to be a fuzz and dust magnet.

It seems the cotton towels created most of the dust and fuzz.

When I get home this evening, should I hit het with a quick dose of water to get the dust off, or can I simply use the duster.

Also, can I apply the Z-8 right after another coat of Z-2 Pro? That would be my third layer in 24 hours.

What should I be using to clean the particles off of my dash, buttons and gauges. My M has rosewood trim, so I want to be very careful when working on the interior.

The Zaino product is pretty amazing.

Q: When I get home this evening, should I hit her with a quick dose of water to get the dust off, or can I simply use the duster.

A: I would use hose water to remove dust and then wipe the surface with damp Microfiber towel and a QD to provide lubricity and avoid scratches

Q: Also, can I apply the Z-8 right after another coat of Z-2 Pro? That would be my third layer in 24 hours.

A: Yes

Q: What should I be using to clean the particles off of my dash, buttons and gauges. My M has rosewood trim, so I want to be very careful when working on the interior.

A: A damp Microfiber towel and Plexus (a plastic polish / cleaner) as the wood surfaces are covered with urethane.

forgive me for being, well, somewhat of an idiot, but would you define QD for me please.

I thought I knew how to keep my cars clean and tidy, but once I found this board I quickly realized I know very, very little.

QD stands for "Quick Detail."

Many products fit this category. If you are using Zaino, you should be using Z6 to dust and touch up between applications of Z2 or Z8. It's quick and easy, and compatible with all the Zaino products.

Also, you can dust with a California Duster, and then use Z6; this gets a fair amount of dust off before you hit it with the cotton or microfiber towel.

Finally, for the dash I have been using 303 Aerospace Protectant, especially in my Lexus Convertible. This has a nice non-glossy and non-greasy finish and also protects from UV damage.

Keep reading here and you'll pick up all kinds of good info. That's what I have been doing for the past 4 years, and I still am learning things all the time.

Happy motoring.

PS: I hear that M35 is a nice ride.

thanks for the feedback.

My interior is black, so I really want to get something on it to keep the sun off of it.

Thanks for the tip on the 303, and how careful do I need to be with it? My concerns are inadvertant contact with the nav screen, gauge covers, etc.

I plan on spending another quality evening with my Zaino products. Hopefully I can get a few pics done.

And yes, the M35 is quite a sweet ride. I have been in a truck or SUV for the better part of the last decade, so I am really having some fun.

The 303 isn't going to harm anything, but if you get overspray on windows or glass, you will have to clean it off later. If you NAV system uses a touch sensitive screen, be careful cleaning that with glass cleaners, and don't use anything harsher than a microfiber towel in any event.

The 303 is good for your tires, also. Visit that web page for some info on how to use it. I use it on all the rubber gaskets involved in the folding top on my car, as well as the gaskets around the doors.

wow!

Thanks for all of the help and for the expertise. I'm really eager to learn more about the products and the techniques to keep my car 100%

Excellent, excellent stuff, and I am most appreciative.

Best product for exterior black trim pieces?

I've been using Zaino for 4 years. I've noticed that if you don't put a coat of Z6/Z8 after the Z2 dust will stick to the paint. If you apply the Z6/Z8 your dust problem should go away.

Since you've already driven the car on the street I'd hose it off, QD with Z6 or Z8. That should take care of the problem.

An interior California Duster is what I use for dusting off the interior. I also use 303 and swear by it. I've put 303 right on my carbon fiber trim and it's has a plastic coating.

The Zaino product is pretty amazing.

I love the stuff! I have a whole bunch of fresh Zaino (including Z8) that I'm finally going to be able to apply this weekend. Forecast is for sun and 60+ degrees! :woot:

Good luck and welcome! :wavey

Navigation or DVD Screen:

The screen is highly static and tends to attract dust like a magnet; so do not attempt to remove dust with a dry cloth. Use a 100% cotton towel and electronics `safe' anti-static cleaner (Kiwi Brands EndustTM for Electronics or Plexus) oil and wax free, also works well on both computer monitors and television screens.

thanks for the tip!

I hosed her off, dried thoroughly, and added another layer of Z2P, and then applied the Z6. Rolled into the sack about midnight.

That did take care of a lot of the dust!

I hope to get moving on the interior this weekend.

As I move forward, more questions:

A) Should I continue layering with the Z2P and Z6, or should I investigate topping the Zaino with some other type of product? I am concerned about compatibility from one product to the next.

B) As my seats are ventilated (air flow heating and cooling), are there any tips in regard to treating the leather so as not to damage or inhibit the air flow through the seats?

Thanks again, and this is an amazing forum!
