Zaino fans??

It'd be interesting to find out how Zaino's clay is different from the rest of the AutoMagic clay (the only company in the USA that can produce clay until 2012 or 2013). Effectively, aside from there being a couple different variations in clay "power", it's all the same stuff. Riccardo may be entirely different, though it cannot be sold here until AutoMagic's sole license runs out.

Yes, I am aware of the clay magic patent, but the thing that I find which is different between clays (even in the USA) is the pliability. I generally like a clay that is more pliable and that is why I like Z-18. I've used Meg's mild clay, Clay Magic blue clay, Mother's clay, pinnacle's clay, Riccardo Yellow and Zaino. Riccardo is my fave because of the pliability but Zaino seems next best to me.

I like using Zaino Z2, & Z5 as long as the humidity isn't high. In my area the humidity is pretty much always high. I've left a thin coat of Z2 on for 15 hrs and it never dried. I never had this problem with their old formula.

I like the ZAIO looks and durability as much as the Z2. The Z2 may add a little to the looks, but imo I can't really tell the difference. Z6 and Z8 are really good products. You can use Z8 over pretty much any carnauba, or sealant. One guy elsewhere uses it over his Vintage and Royale and loves it.

I find that interesting that Z8 can be used over nuba.....hmmm..did not know that , in theory, would this extend the life of the nuba if it were spritzed after each wash job ?

FB
I have multiple coats of Z5 and Z6&8 on my black Cobalt SS , recently I slipped a coat of Z2 across the hood....the results were shocking , much glassier !....now I dont know if that was because of the build up or not.....?????

Where's the love for Blackfire Wet Diamond everyone:biggrin:, and yes you can use Blackfire Gloss Spray Sealant over Carnauba paste wax like Blackfire Midnight Sun or any other. All clay is still made in Japan and AutoMagic still owns the patent, but look out! when the patent runs out the market might be flooded with some many types of clay. Wait & see film at 11.

Zoom,

sum times this chemistry set gets confusing...:D
In the beginning ,after Dawn and clay bar , a decision is made usually, paint sealant or wax...carnuba or blend. Now obviously, a wax can follow a sealant, but a sealant normally does not follow wax because there would be no bond to the paint....now ,am I screwed up here with the preceding ?
Now ,we are talking about spray sealants over wax....
It seems to me that families must stay together, water base or oil base products...and polymers are usually a blend.I know there can be compatibility issues sum times when combining different manufacturers products.Where does the compatibility axe fall ?

True, some spray sealant's should stay in their family of products, but Blackfire Deep Gloss has the same acrylic polymers used in Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Protectant and Blackifre Midnight Sun Carnauba Paste Wax means it will extend the durability of the wax, acrylic and polymer paint sealant on the finish, use it after washing your car or anytime you want, wipes-on and buffs-off easily and can be used over any wax, polymer or acrylic sealant. Don't forget it's also Polycharged.

i use it on my jet black bimmer and love it for quick touch up before hitting the road. i'll likely order more before the summer is gone..

I hear so many people bash Zaino simply because its been around for a while without any major changes, truth is its still a top notch sealant and can run with the best of them in most categories. I think BF WD and Powerlock have the edge in depth and slickness however but Zaino lasts long and beads like a champ.

Moreover the Z7 wash is top notch and I still use it on my own car, although Lusso auto bathe is my new choice and both detail sprays are amazing. Too bad getting their stuff in Jersey is difficult.

You're exactly right David. There's no "flavor of the month" for Zaino products, and that's fine by me! As you stated... "Top notch sealant and can run with the best of them"...:iagree:

Guys with high humidity and zaino drying issues - are you all using ZFX with the Z2 or Z5??

I live in the all time humid state here - western washington - and right next to that humongous Lake Washington, and I use the Zaino Sealants all the time with ZFX and never have problems streaking or drying..

I can put 3 coats on an average sized vehicle with 1/2 oz of the Z sealant of choice and 2-3 drops of ZFX which in my experience, speeds up the drying process alot, and according to Zaino, makes for a stronger bond to the paint.

So in my experience, the 3 coats are thin, their application pad is spritzed so as to not dry out, with Z6, and the finish is wiped down with Z6 before each coat.

I cant wait for the sealant to dry either, so I like using ZFX to speed up the process..

Is this what you guys are doing ?

Yes, I use ZFX. The exact conditions that have caused the streaking are temperature over 90* AND humidity over 80%. (A quite miserable combination actually!):out: Keep in mind that the streaking was very minor. Only a critical eye could see it. Not noticeable on metallics, only solids, like red or black.

I am doing it the same way Dan , indeed it does take practice to learn to apply it thin enough ,and your are exactly right about keeping the applicator moistened with Z-6.
I think Bill has told me that he spritzes the paint with 6 as he is applying in a straight path.
I have to work at it to get around my Cobalt with i/2 ounce....just one coat....I did manage last time to get about half way around again .
I wonder sum times if we could mix Z6 and 2 or 5 together with the ZFX in a spray bottle.....maybe with a little water....????? anyone ever experimented ??

I think Luster has been using Zaino since about 1794 (yes he is more than 200 years old - he detailed the first Model T ;))

He is the resident expert and he loves the stuff. I'm mixed.

I think Zaino gives paint a better shine than anything out there. It is the only product (I have used) that I thought actually made my car shinier than anything else (some say it looks like a plastic finish) but I disagree.

I don't think it is that easy to use, especially in comparison to something like BFWD. It certainly isn't hard to use, just not a breeze like BFWD.

Protection is great, it lasts a long time (Z2Pro that is, with ZFX).

Slickness is good but again, NOWHERE near BFWD in my opinion. Other than Riccardo Yellow, Zaino makes the next best clay IMO (although I've only tried about a half dozen different clay products). Both of Zaino's spray detailers are great as well.
I love BFWD but want to try Zaino for the heck of it even though I will always use BFWD. Since I don't want to strip the BFWD, could I top the BFWD with Zaino AIO, then
Z2? I don't want to get that additive. I am realizing that even though the call Zaino a polish, it's really a sealant.

No worries Angelo, I will always love BFWD! Just topped my bird with a 2nd coat! I may try Zaino for the heck of it but BFWD forever!
