i washed a qd my car today...and ive been noticing that the car has been attracting a lot of dust lately

dont get me wrong i love zaino but i just dont get it

can it be because ive been drying my towels in the dryer?..i hear it gives off an electric charge and makes the car attract more dust??

how often do you guys wash your drying towels and detailing towels?

ps. cali car duster does a good job...but the layer of dust was just crazy...it was only 3 hours of driving after i qd'd it...(and i didnt take it offroad :))

this is the first time i noticed such a big amount of dust...thats why im suspecting the towels as opposed to zaino

It's Zaino. I thought Zaino wasn't supposed to attract dust buy it acted like a magnet on my black 911. One of the reasons I quit using it.

well, from answers on other forums and this one its pretty clear that it does attract dust more than others...but a quick cali dust should do the trick

I switched from S100 to Klasse. I was deciding between Klasse and Zaino and dust was one of the factor that steer me away from Zaino. After I made the switch I noticed that Klasse attracted less dust than when I was using S100. My car is parked outside everyday since I don't have a garage yet. :p

I guarantee it has more to do with towels than Zaino.

I live in Lubbock, TX (dirt capital of the U.S.) and could tell when my towels were dried to long and had a static charge to them.

Zaino will attract some dust, but no more than S100 in my experience. Try pulling your towels out of the drier when then are slightly damp or even mist them with a water bottle if you dry too long.

The waxes or polish you choose does not attract or repel dust any more or less than other wax or polish product. It is a matter of the environment at the time.

When the Gurus did their tests they verified this also.

During high pollen or dust conditions it does not matter what product you use. Your car will get covered.

This picture rather belays that statement, wouldn't you say? Zaino's in on the right, Malms on the left. Clearly the Zaino's is more dusty.

Who is the brilliant person who wrote all over that car?

Do you realize that causes scratches?

That right there is a autopian's nightmare.

Foxtrapper,

Once others duplicate the test I will be more inclined to believe it. There could have been a static charge built up from the towel used on the more heavily coated side.

Were both or either side QDed after application?

How long after application was the vehicle driven in the dusty environment? Was the Zaino side cured at that time?

There are just too many variables to draw any reasonable conclusion.

I have tried duplicating that scenario but the dust seemed to be evenly set on both the Zaino and S100 sides.

foxtrapper took that pic from the end of a long editorial that is worth the read...link is in a post at the top of this page

foxtrapper, nice detective work, I too noticed that my Zaino car seemed to be attracting more dust than normal. I still love the product though.

I thought Zaino was a big dust magnet also. But yesterday I applied #16 on my AV except for the roof at which I applied a fresh coat of Z2.Today both are covered with equal amounts of dust and pollen.

Recent research by a leading university has shown than 61.3% of the posts on car care forums are made by people whose total knowledge of the thread’s subject has been gained exclusively by reading other threads (in which also 61.3% of the posters have no direct knowledge of the subject). When the subject is Zaino this percentage rises to 79.8%!

It would help if posters would add information about their source of knowledge - such as, “I read in another thread that a friend of Joe’s ex-girlfriend was told that Zaino attracts more dust than anything else on the planet.

For several years I lived at the end of a 1/3 mile road that was surfaced with crushed granite. Tremendous amount of dust even when driven at speeds less than 5 mph. As an addicted experimenter I would often have as many a six or more different protectants on various areas of my Jet Black paint. As an obsessive compulsive detailer I did a lot of comparing to find two things: (1) how to minimize dust collection, and (2) how best to remove this non-soluble dust.
