Zaino & Car Washes??

I have Zaino'd my sunny day only Mustang with very good results.

I now am planning on Zainoing my wifes new Grand Cherokee, but it will be daily driven, year around.

The Jeep gets the touchless carwashes the majority of the time, and by hand when I can get to it.

Will the soaps, etc... be compatable with Zaino or will they wash it away??

If Zaino isn't the deal, what is with the plan of touchless carwashes??

Most car washes use a wax based soap. (Notice streaking on windows....its wax) Thats what gives it that sparkle when it comes out and makes it shine (briefly). So to answer your question, no it wouldn't wash away the Zaino.

However, I would still not advise bringing your car to the car wash. If you want something done right, you are better doing it yourself. They rush at those places, and your car can get scratched in the process. If time is an issue, wash it yourself when you do have time, and slap on a few coats of Zaino. That ought to hold you till you have time again.

But I would like to know more on this touchless car wash. How does it work?

my wife runs her zainoed car through the touchless all the time, I just tell her to make sure she orders the package without the sprayed on sealant. After she gets home, I go out and QD the car with Z6, and its good to go, with no problems whatsoever. I've layered more Z over top after the washes with no problems as well. You'll be fine. :xyxthumbs

The touchless system here is made by "Lazerwash".

Basically you drive in, a wand goes around your car several times, and when done, you pull forward through under a hot air dryer.

The stages are, depending on package selected, something like, 1)soap, 2)high pressure rinse, 3)clearcoat protectant (whatever that is?),4) low pressure softened rinse, 5)pull through dryer.

Nothing (other than water, etc...) ever touches the car.

I don't really have the time to hand wash her truck very often plus it gets below freezing here and not many choices at that point.

I just wasn't sure if the soap would strip the soap right off or not. Sounds like it won't. Just skip the "clearcoat protectant"? which would mean the "basic" wash.

There's nothing wrong with taking your Z'd car through one of those, as long as you stay away from the wax packages!:nono

I'd still Z6 it afterward, though, since you won't be getting that extra 'sparkle' from Z7.:xyxthumbs

is there an echo in the house?? :p

oh BTW I forgot to mention that I haven't seen any durability issues with doing this in the case of my wifes car....

I find that the laser cars washes do not completely clean or rinse all residue ( microscopic ( swirl creating grit) from surface. This is okay for a company car or beater. This is of special concern if your wife's car is dark in color.

Here is a suggestion: Rather than wash your car 3-5 times a week ( from your thread about layering Zaino) wash it 3-4x /wk and squeeze in your wife's car 1x/week. She'll love you for it.:xyxthumbs

The truck is "Patriot Blue", so it is pretty dark.

I have completely modified my Mustang cleaning method.

Now I uncover it, drive it some, Z6/Microfiber it, recover it!:xyxthumbs

Way less washings. It is a real pain to wash. Drips all over the place.

Maybe that alone will free up some "wifes" car time. Been screwing with the Mustang way too much. I think my wife is really wishing I had bought silver!!!!

Now you guys even have me thinking about my Christmas gift early. A PC!:xyxthumbs

Still going to need to go to car washes in winter, so I hope the Zaino can make it fall to spring.
