Zaino , Big Thumbs Down !

I fell into the trap and finally broke down and bought some zaino,

I bought the zaino all in one-z5-zfx ,now don't get me wrong it was OK but THAT'S IT my motorcycle is black and i'm always looking for something to give it more depth and a lot of you will probably laugh at this but after 9 coats of z5 w/zfx over a period of 5 days i really thought it just looked OK so i washed my bike w/dawn took off all the zaino and put 3 coats of liquid glass over a 24 hr period looks MUCH BETTER !

this is how i applied zaino , did i do somthing wrong

1st i applied the all in one and let it sit for 90 min.

2nd i removed the all in one and applied the z-5 w/a few drops of the zfx

after letting it sit for 75 min i removed it and repeated step 2 seven more times

over the next 5 days putting no more than 3 coats in a 24 hr period and disposing of any z5 that was more than a few hrs. old .

WHAT DID I DO WRONG !

prep the paint? what about scratches / swirls / water spots? without removing them first, nothing will look crazy amazing

Did you prep properly ?? Clay etc.

I just detailed my F150 today with Zaino with amazing results. Trust me I am not Zealot either.

Clay

Polish

Z5 ZFX'd x2

Z8

the paint was clayed before the zaino it was extremely smooth, to be honest it looked better before the zaino.

Many swear by Zaino, many don't. I have all the current Zaino line. It looks good, and last a long time, but it's not my favorite look. Plus in my climate (high humidity) it never dries. Even if I apply it really thin, and leave it over night, it always smears and streaks.

No Z6 in between layers ?

Hard to imagine what happened.

You used a few drops of zfx for 1 or 2 ounces of zaino ?

It's also possible you just put it on too heavy and without some z6 and/or distilled water you just have one big smear. Just guessing of course.

Surely there has to be an experienced Zaino user in the Boston area who would be willing to come over and evaluate your problems. I'd suggest that approach before outright condemning the products.

I have never had a problem with the Zaino line. I am always impressed by the look and the durability. Sorry you were disappointed

I have a good 5 or 6 coats on my car and couldn't be happier with it.

I give Zaino a

Liquid Glass is an ok product. But if you have scratches and swirls you can count on them looking worse after you apply that.

Damn! I don't think any product is perfect but I would opine that Zaino does provide a bright glossy appearance. One thing I would doubt is that a Dawn wash will remove it; especially 9 layers.

Something is wrong here. Suggest you ask Sal Zaino or one of the Zaino fanatics on this board.

Your car looks great by the way.

Humidity is a killer for Zaino. At least in my experience.

If you see smears or streaks go over the car with a damp microfiber cloth. Sometimes it just takes a lot of elbow grease and time to remove them.

Believe I've had plenty of practice. :chuckle:

Now I won't apply Zaino unless I know the humidity is going to be low. This is usually in the fall. LOL

9 layers is way overkill and you probably muted the shine. Zaino is one of the most reflective LSP's ever made. Try 2 or 3 layers and let it set up. Zaino also retains it's shine, wash after wash, better than most.

Zaino is a no-go in Georgia, then.

Not that I ever had a reason to try it.

I like to think of Zaino like a magnifying glass...

If you have a perfectly polished and prepped surface, Zaino will intensify the look and make it look even better.

On the other hand, if you have a poorly prepped/polished surface, it will highlight the defects and make it look worse, IMO.

I use Zaino a lot and think it's a great product. I would spend a little more time on the prep and give it another shot.

When i called zaino they told me the more layers the better it will look, and he also said that they recomend a 100% cotton towel i used mirofiber and he said that's a no no. but i can't see why, but i'm not a professonial.

I used 100% cotton towel back in the day, but now only use microfiber cloths. If you have the time reapply it and follow the steps Zaino told you to do. If they broke down the steps for you.

Also, try a 100% cotton towel as well. It won't hurt anything. Though I've never had any issues because of the towel I used.
